1999 BMW M3

With E30 M3s being all the rage, the E36 M3 is getting lost a bit in the shuffle amongst BMW enthusiasts. These are sport sedans with plenty of merit, as anyone who has driven one will tell you. This generation M3 also opened up the US market to more variants, such as the Cabriolet and Sedan. But for the purist, only the original two door will do. This final year E36 M3 Coupe for sale in Illinois is part of a dying breed, as fewer lower mileage E36s become available on the market as time goes on.

It’s nice to see a regular, two door 1999 M3 Coupe for sale, as the glut of 1999 M3s I see are automatic cabriolets. I’ve never quite understood the appeal of the M3 cabriolet, as it misses the point when it comes to a honed performance machine. Almost $16,000 is a bit rich for an M3 with this kind of mileage. Realistically, this is about a $13,000 to $14,000 car at best. While the E36 M3 might pale in comparison on a purity level as compared to the original E30 M3, this is reflected in market values. At the moment, the time hasn’t been better to pick up one of these high performance 3 series.

Unkess you just have to have a sedan skip the e36 and go straight to the e46.

E46 is heavier & less agile, but more power & faster. The dealer selling this probably paid $11-12k & needs a $3,000 profit to make it worth their while. It does appear to be an unmolested M3 with low miles.
