If the BMW 530i we featured over the weekend didn’t satisfy your horsepower needs, then here is another example of the real deal, the M5. These sedans almost perfected the formula of combining supercar performance with four-door practicality. A decade on since production halted, they are still revered as much as they were when they were new. This M5 for sale in North Carolina looks downright immaculate for a car with over 80,000 miles on the clock, certainly the product of a fastidious owner.

If it’s a clean E39 M5 you are after, be prepared to pay for it. We’re starting to see very low mileage examples creep into the $30,000 range. Cars that have been used but well taken care of seem to be hovering in the $15,000 to low $20,000 range. Anything closer to the $10,000 mark will be a high mileage example and only for the very brave who may have an “in” with a specialist mechanic. This one might be priced a tad bit optimistically, but it is a final year example and the condition of it really speaks to me. It has been very well presented and is fully documented. If you’re in the market for an E39, this is the kind of car you’d want to consider.

if this car has all service records…and has been well maintained…20k ain;t too far off…
looks to have extended, if not the full leather option….other than being TSi…this car looks to be a great way for someone to enjoy the true wolf in sheep’s clothing…don’t expect this to last long….and it won’t show up at EAG as the mileage is a bit high for them even though it is an 03
Agreed, MDriver. I didn’t think the price seemed too far off. I am in the process of backfilling a lot of Week in Reviews into our new Hammertime sale archive so hopefully we’ll have some more E39 M5s in there soon.
