Three things we like here at GCFSB are Swedish cars, fast wagons and manual gearboxes. Sometimes, we are fortunate to come across a combination of these three genres in one package. The last ten years have been good to fans of fast wagons, with choices ranging from the bonkers Cadillac CTS-V Wagon to a hauler that Mercedes-Benz won’t give up on, the E-Class AMG Estate with a bunch of fast Audi Avants in between. Volvo was a bit of an outlier in this game, but nonetheless put forward a quite capable wagon in the form of the V70R in 2003. This wagon had a 2.5 liter, turbocharged inline-5 under the hood cranking out 300 horsepower hooking up to a Haldex all-wheel drive system. And yes, you could order one with a third pedal. Rounding off the package was Volvo’s 4C suspension system and Brembo brakes. This V70R for sale in Richmond, Virginia wears a unique Flash Green hue and has a host of IPD performance upgrades.

2004 Volvo V70R 6MT Flash Green/Gobi. 76000 miles. I bought the car from the original owner with 55k on the odometer in November of 2011. Came from Colorado and has lived in Virginia ever since even though it has been titled in North Dakota. I did a lot of maintenance and upgrading to this car over the past few years, and it has been a fun car. Well maintained, all wheel drive works correctly, no check engine lights present. I never thought I would sell, but I recently found and purchased a dream car of mine so a few others have to go. I am definitely a bit excessive about caring for my cars, to the point many people think my old cars are new. Having said that, the gobi seat is not perfect (although you could dye them and they would be), the front bumper has some scrapes on the lower edge. There are a few barely visible scratches on the rear bumper, and two tiny door dings on the passenger side. I think it will be the nicest one you will find that is not a super low mileage garage queen/collector specimen in this rare color combination. I have all records for the car since new as well as both keys, leather bound owners manual, etc.

The starting bid isn’t too terribly off the mark, but I would wager to think a lower starting bid might have seen a bit more action on this auction. The color might not be suited to everyone, but I’m a fan of it. I would prefer a black interior versus the Gobi that we see here, but given the manual gearbox, I wouldn’t hesitate at the chance to pilot this machine. Volvos over the years have sometime had a staid image, but it was wild rides like this that began to transform peoples’ opinions over the years, while satisfying the appetite for speed of enthusiasts with families.

Now, if this was E39 540 Touring 540 in 6 speed (as BMW should’ve offered one), it’d be probably gone by now. I just can’t warm up to this interior when compared to E39. But, that’s just me and this is nice car after all.
Insert obligatory “YOU KNOW IT NOT JERMAINE” comment.
Cool color!
He’s had at least one other eBay auction for this v70. I picked up on it last week, that one expired when at $16k.
I always love “no reserve” auctions that start a pretty high amount. In this case $16,000. 😉

I love those cars, had an S70 for a long time. Also means I know about the piston rings and the other fun repairs… 😉
When he’s done with the wheels they can go back on the trashed matte black 89 accord.
@Brad, I think that’s a stock gunmetal color. Could be wrong.
As time goes on my soft spot for these is growing increasingly bigger.
The color is certainly not for me but that’s no reason to write it off, there’s always vinyl wraps…
