The E30 M3 mythology continues to grow unabated, with more articles and videos attesting to its perfection coming out each month. As this was the BMW that caught my eye and got me hooked almost 20 years ago, I can’t say that I’ve stopped believing either. The ludicrous prices have made it hard to have dreams seem like anything more than that these days, yet every time I see an M3 like this one, a little voice starts chirping in the back of my head, trying to calculate what it would take to come up with the cash and live the dream. It looks outstanding in Schwarz with Sport Evo bumpers and spoiler – those red stripes are a nice piece of flare to accompany the massive flares and wing. The history has a few holes as the block was replaced but there aren’t any details. If there were, however, it’d probably be for sale for even MORE money. Let’s see… if I sold the E28 and a kidney and drained my savings…

I love finding anti-G55/G63 G-wagens, and here’s one that’s been used hard but is ready to go for more. It’s an Idaho off-roader, ready to take on trails and backcountry in a way that fully exploits its original intentions. Racks, lights, and big tires all create a great look in addition to being very useful, and the short wheelbase looks like a blast in the hills. It has low mileage but quite a bit of lurking rust, which should keep the price low.

2 CommentsThough it sits in a forgotten corner of the enthusiast realm for most of the time, the Corrado will always be a cool car. While the original Scirocco was a stunner, the second generation was a bit dumpy. The Corrado brought great looks and an allegedly transcendent driving experience with some very appealing engine choices, creating a sporty compact FWD hatchback that had many strengths. Price was a downfall, as it may be for today’s example. It looks very nice in a fresh coat of white paint and the matching wheels – sometimes a death knell – look appropriate. Apparently they were part of a $25k-round of investment though, which should be reserved for classic cars and startup companies.

9 CommentsWhile my personal inclinations lie in having M-cars as close to the 80s as possible, there’s no question that the E39 and E46 combo are extremely desirable. The E46 M3 continues to grow on me as a relatively-analog total athlete. It’s not quite a top-5 “must buy” yet, but it’s certainly entering the conversation. Today, we have a remarkably similar duo, both examples dressed in the distinctive Laguna Seca Blue on black dubs with moderate modifications. The owners are clearly proud of their car, resulting in prices significantly higher than other E46s on the market.

2 CommentsOn a recent bike trip, my girlfriend and I had some long climbs up the foothills of the Bay Area on tree-lined, one-lane switchbacks. On one particularly gorgeous but hidden stretch, she yelled “look at the cool Unimog down there!” Thankful as I am that my partner knows what a Mog is, it was actually a fascinating Pinzgauer 4×4 that looked like it was prepared to be an RV for the zombie apocalypse. While that particular model looked prepared to keep people out, today’s 6×6 model looks like it wants to let anyone and anything crawl in while it dominates terrain. With heated seats, a huge truck bed, and one of the most stout external rollcages I’ve seen, I’m not sure what it’s for other than what the dudes are doing in the photo – but just riding in it looks pretty fun.
