Let’s face it. Vans are not normally considered the coolest genre of vehicles. But with Volkswagen forbidding US customers access to their most recent Transporters and the commonality of the SUV, the Eurovan, as it was known stateside, has gained a bit of a cult status in the US. While the version equipped with the VR6 engine might be fresh in our minds, a few were sold here in the early part of the 1990s with a 2.5 liter inline-5 cylinder engine. This Eurovan for sale in Florida looks very 1993 with its shade of green and is one of the early examples equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The 1989 Porsche 944 we featured at the end of last month is back up for sale at the same price. For those interested in reliving their 1980s fantasies, this is a rather affordable and stylish way to do it.

3 CommentsIf the BMW 530i we featured over the weekend didn’t satisfy your horsepower needs, then here is another example of the real deal, the M5. These sedans almost perfected the formula of combining supercar performance with four-door practicality. A decade on since production halted, they are still revered as much as they were when they were new. This M5 for sale in North Carolina looks downright immaculate for a car with over 80,000 miles on the clock, certainly the product of a fastidious owner.

2 CommentsAt the 1992 Paris Motor Show, Porsche would introduce one of the last evolutions of their venerable front-engined, four-cylinder model that traced its roots back to the 924 of the late 1970s: the 968 Club Sport. This was a lightweight special of the 968 that had a few amenities deleted such as AC, sunroof, rear seats along with a good amount of soundproofing. Around 50 kilograms (~ 110 pounds) was saved, which resulted in a modest increase in acceleration to 100 mph of a half second. However, for those track day enthusiasts out there, this was certainly a more suitable platform to begin with than a bog standard 968. This 968CS for sale at 4Star Classics in the UK is one of a handful of RHD models, made even more unique as it is painted in a special order Amaranth Violet.

Comments closedNot a week goes by it seems that we don’t feature an E39 BMW 5 series of some sort. Generally we like to hone in on the V8 engined fast Fives, but the bread and butter E39s in the US market were the ones equipped with the inline-6 under the hood. This 2003 530i represents the last year for the E39 and the sunset on this particular chapter in BMW design language. Equipped with the sports package and a 5-speed manual gearbox, it is sort of junior version of the M5 for those who may be scared off by the running costs and thirst of the Motorsports beast.
