More often than not, the final iteration of vehicle within a production run turns out to be the best. It could be argued this was the case with the Mercedes-Benz W126 S-class. Making its debut in the early 1980s and lasting in production through 1991, there were many technical advancements along the way, with a facelift that streamlined the look in 1986. However, that leaves a bunch of cars from early days of a production run sitting around like unwanted step children, hence the case with this 380SEC for sale in Colorado. I much prefer the updated look and greater power from the later 560SEC, but one look over this grand coupe tells me this is no ordinary SEC, looking perfectly preserved at well over 30 years of age.

For years, the BMW 3 series has been the standard bearer for someone looking for a sport sedan with a dash of luxury mixed in. Luckily for the enthusiast, it is one of the few cars in its class that offers the option for a manual transmission. While modern automatic gearboxes are more efficient, there are still those of us out there who enjoy rowing their own. This 2016 340i xDrive for sale in New Jersey is lightly used, but is one of the few big engined 3 series sedans so equipped these days.

1 CommentThe Porsche 911 has been around for so long that there are numerous special editions attached to its history. One which we’ll highlight today is a 911 that the US market never saw, the 964 based 30 Jahre. These turbo look 911s were built in honor of the car’s 30th anniversary. While 911 of these “Jubi” editions were supposed to be built, only 896 have been proven to have been produced. In addition to the turbo look body, a few features help one distinguish a Jubi, including the titanium inlay on the shift knob, woven 911 lettering on the backs of the rear backrests and a titanium plaque on the rear shelf with the car’s production number. Only a few colors were offered, with Viola Metallic being the most popular. Other hues included Amethyst Metallic, Arctic Silver Metallic and a handful of Black Metallic and Guards Red cars. This Viola Metallic example for sale in the United Kingdom has just crossed the 20,000 mile mark and comes with a hefty price tag.

3 CommentsThe 1990s would bring about a shift in Mercedes-Benz naming language, but the year before the C class would arrive, the original baby Benz, the 190E, would have one last shout in the form of two Limited Edition models. The 190E 2.3 Limited Edition would be offered only in Emerald Green over parchment leather with burlwood trim. The 190E 2.6 Limited Edition, like the one we see here for sale in Missouri, was offered solely in black over black and red leather with carbon fibre trim. While the 2.3 Limited Edition was tuned more towards luxury, this 2.6 had a bit more aggression with the Sportline spec. On offer were tighter suspension settings and sport seats, among other features. This 190E 2.6 Limited Edition is especially attractive, having had one owner for many years with low mileage showing on the odometer.

2 CommentsIt’s a rare day when I’ll talk about a Porsche 911 on this forum, as my fellow contributor Rob has spent a lifetime devoted to this air-cooled sportscar. When we hang out together, one question has arisen from time to time: “if you had to have one 911, which one would it be?” That’s a tough one, considering we have a model portfolio of 50 years to choose from. But one 911 stands out as the holy grail for me: the 3.2 Clubsport. To me, this is what the 911 is all about. Light weight, no frills and a pure driving experience. This 1987 911 Clubsport for sale in Germany was sold originally in Sweden and found its way back home in 2009. Looking for something a bit more unique in the 3.2 realm? Read further…
