The Porsche 968 continues to capture the imagination of sports car enthusiasts to this day, especially for those who seek the best in handling dynamics. This car was almost a ready-made track car with an almost perfect weight distribution and a large displacement, torquey four-cylinder engine. What was supposed to be a “944 S3” turned out to be different enough than the original formula for Porsche to change the nomenclature. Nevertheless, this final 944 iteration was, like many final production cars, a perfection of the breed. This 968 for sale in Michigan isn’t a low-mileage garage queen, but with a few issues sorted, would make a great driver going forward.

1991 Volkswagen Golf GTI G60

It’s hard to think that the Volkswagen GTI has been with us for forty years. In that time, the we’ve seen everything from 2.0 liter, 115 horsepower 8-valve Mk3s to an insane GTI concept car with a mid-mounted W12 engine. In between, there’s been a number of variations on the hot hatch theme, including this car, the Mk2 Golf GTI G60. For those of you non-VW aficionados, the G60 pertains to what’s under the hood, in this case, the 1.8 liter supercharged inline-4 with 160 horsepower that saw duty in the Corrado when it debuted and later in the rare Golf G60 Limited. This GTI G60 for sale in Switzerland has had a complete overhaul and looks sharp sitting on aftermarket, deeper offset Ronal alloys.

1994 Porsche 968 Sport

1994 Porsche 968 Sport

It’s not uncommon for automotive manufacturers to tailor a particular model to the likes and needs of a certain market. Porsche is well known for this; one example being the 911 RS America of the early 1990s. Deemed a bit too hard edged for US consumers, Porsche decided to soften the Carrera RS formula a bit and make a special run of 701 cars, which were initially cheaper than a 911 C2. Given their rarity, these RS Americas are now worth much more than their standard Carrera counterparts. Around the same time, Porsche was focusing on another lightweight special, the 968 Club Sport. Unfortunately, the 968CS never made it stateside, but Porsche produced a special run of similar models for the UK market, dubbed the “Sport.” These were essentially 968CS models with the CS luxury package, which offered a bit more features and convenience than the track focused CS. This 1994 968 Sport for sale in southwest England has very low mileage for its age.

2001 BMW 740i Sport with 8k miles

Even though it was a large car for its day and offered supreme levels of luxury, the BMW E38 7 series stayed true to its roots of “The Ultimate Driving Machine.” You could instantly recognize that this car was derived from sport sedans of yore, with it’s double kidney grille and four headlamp profile. In markets outside the US, this was to be the last 7 series available with a manual gearbox. In addition, BMW offered a Sport Package on the E38, as we see here with what is possibly one of the lowest mileage examples left in existence.
