12 CommentsFewer cars summed up the optimism and robust market of the mid to late 1990s than then Mercedes-Benz W140 S class. While it was released on the tail end of an economic downturn and derided for its decadence, this was an impressive car, not only because of its size. Mercedes packed a ton of features and the latest technology into this new S class that, as usual, had the competition scrambling to keep up. A two door SEC model was on offer, both in 5.0 liter V8 and 6.0 liter V12 format. This 1993 500SEC has traveled only 42,000 miles and offers someone the crack at executive comforts at a subcompact price.
Following on to the E320 Cabriolet we featured last week, here is another clean, low mileage 1995 example for sale in Maryland. This particular car has had both its head gasket and wiring harness replaced, two important maintenance issues with this model. For those in the colder climates, summer is just around the corner. What better way to enjoy it than with a cruise in this stately cabriolet?
Are you a fan of the Mercedes-Benz W123 estate but find yourself saying “I coulda had a V8?†Then look no further. This 1980 300TD Estate has a 5.7 liter Chevrolet V8 under the hood, a handy tool to keep up with traffic and even embarrass a few unsuspecting motorists. For sale in California, this looks like a well-done build, right down to the stock Mercedes V8 air cleaner box being adapted to the new engine. Now this is a sleeper.
In an era when SUVs are the order of the day for manufacturers looking to expand profitability, it’s says something that Mercedes-Benz still sees fit to import the estate versions of the E class, in both E350 and E63 trim. There are still those of us out there who merely seek carrying capability without all the off-road fuss. This E320 Estate for sale in Florida is a great example of a car that gives you SUV carrying capability with the comfort and economy of a sedan.
