1994 Mercedes-Benz E420

I’ve said numerous times that the W124 Mercedes-Benz 400E/E420 is one of the forgotten gems from Mercedes in the past 35 years or so that won’t cost you a ton of money to buy or live with. It still is modern enough to be a daily driver if you wish and since it is a W124, you won’t hate your life driving it. The .034 E420 offers the punch of the torquey M119 V8 without having to spend $25,000 on a .036 500E. The facelift version, like this 1994 we have today up for bid in New York, is especially attractive with its two-tone paint and really clean appearance for having almost 176,000 miles. This example has some heavy maintenance items already completed and is actually a one-owner car. Question is, are you willing to pay the slightly higher asking price for this example?

1997 Audi UrS6

The last of a legendary breed, 1997 was the last year that the UrS6 was brought to North America and marked a 2 year hiatus until the C5 S6 was introduced stateside. Offering a bullet-proof driveline and plenty of power on tap, these cars are desirable among Audi enthusiasts, especially in this condition. This green over black S6 for “sale” near Detroit would make any Audi enthusiast swoon.

This is a 1 of 25 1997 URS6 that has been imported into the US from Canada. 165,000 miles but if you know anything about these cars with the right care they will never show their age. This is a feeler I’m putting out only because I could use the money around the house. This cars is in great shape (my baby) and I told myself I would never sell this car because of its rarity in the Audi community on the US. I have over 13 years of paper history of every bolt and part has been installed or replaced on the car. The original owner was a die hard URS guy (as am I, I love these cars). He used to live in Clarkston MI and he imported this car from Canada from Port Huron.

These cars were a lot of money in 1997 ($58,000) which is part of the reason Audi USA didn’t import any for 1997. In 1997 this car was ahead of the curve on luxury in that these had options I didn’t even knew existed at that time. Auto up/down all windows, heated front and rear seats, 6 speaker bose with 6 disc cd in the trunk, full under body coating along with dual galvanizing of its metal, and since this was a car that big business man drove a sat phone in the arm rest! The car was a 2.2l inline 5 turbocharged engine (AAN, very strong engine, fully forged, some on the forum have over 500,000 miles on just a head gasket replace). It has a 5-speed transmission (clutch is in great shape) and I have never launched the car or raced it in any way. Back to the car I wash and wax it all the time along with leather protection and this car has never seen snow so it is in the garage for the winter. If you where to look at this car you would never guess it had more then 60k miles on it. These cars are very rare to begin with and at this mileage and how well it was been taken care off and with it being a 1997 and in perfect running condition, starting at 6k seems about right. For some reason these cars have had a surge in value over the past 6 months, I’m thinking awareness of these cars coming out.

Wanted to add that I just changed the oil, spark plugs should be replaced by next oil change and timing belt is due in 12,000 miles so a years worth of average driving. There is a brake light on but is due to the spliced wires that go to the pad wear indicator so theres nothing wrong with the performance. The car has had all its coils replaced, upgraded turbo(the stock one was just fine and comes with the car), the wheels are 15″ Speedlines and came on cars that had the winter package I have no other wheels for it. The car is chipped to my knowledge and is around 280hp, I also have the stock chips if you want to put it back to stock but you wont want to). Anyway I would love to sell this to a Audi person that know and can take care of the car as well as I have but I’m willing to give knowledge to someone as well. Thanks for looking. While not my favorite color, this S6 is clean. The mileage of 165,000 would be an issue for lesser cars, but these 034 powerplants, have proven their high mileage reliability. The paint and body on these cars are also built for the long haul; with galvanized body panels, they rarely rust or rot. This seller is looking for $6,000 in this for sale feeler, so it looks like it’s going to take all of that $6,000 for the title to change hands. The price seems pretty reasonable if the car is as clean as it appears in the pictures. This is certainly a car worth looking in to for someone in the market for an early S6.

Theme Week: 1995 Audi RS2

The RS2 was built on Audi’s 80 Avant; it was Audi’s first “RS” vehicle, and the first of their long line of high-performance wagons.  The RS2 was a joint effort between Audi and Porsche, and represented some of the best efforts from both camps.

While most of the car came from the Audi parts bin, the mad scientists at Porsche transformed the 230bhp Audi 2.2l inline 5 cylinder turbo engine in to a 311bhp fire breather with the addition of bigger turbo, larger fuel injectors, a hotter cam, and remapped ECU.  The power was planted to the road through a 6 speed gear box, and Audi’s legendary quattro with locking differential.  The suspension was revised with Bilstein shocks and larger sway bars.  To bring this monster to a halt, Porsche donated the brakes from the Porsche 968 Club Sport.

These cars are extremely rare, with only 2891 examples built from 1994 to 1995.  For the longest time, to own one in North America was merely a dream for Audi enthusiasts, but that did not stop the RS2 from developing a strong cult following over here.  Luckily there are enthusiasts like the owner of this Volcano Black beauty for sale in Quebec, Canada to bring cars like this to our shores.

1995 Audi RS2 for sale on vwvortex.com

Hello Folks,
Here is a 1995 AUDI RS2 all original partially restored with 84 000km on the clock (paperwork to prove it).
Car has the famous 5cyl 2.2L turbo engine which has 315hp (tuned by Porsche with bigger turbo just for thr RS2). Car has a 6 speeds manual gearbox with locking rear diff.
Everything in the car works except for AC which will be taking care of eventually before sale.
Only 2981 RS2 were ever produce and only 400 came with that specific color which is call Volcano Black.
Things that were restored over the last 3 months are:
Front and rear bumper repainted All 5 wheels refinished with new tires installed Brakes all redone with refinished calipers New OEM front upper strut mounts New OEM thermostat New OEM engine coolant temp sensor New OEM passenger side molding New front RS2 badge New steering wheel badge New OEM coolant expansion tank New OEM front bumper turn signals Head liner redone Door cards redone A lot of new clips, bolts, screws and what not that were all missing.

This car is a piece of history on his own and will surely never depreciate as years goes by.

With less than 3000 built, and having never being offered in North America this car is certainly hard to come by, and even harder to slap a value on.  This beautiful example has only 84,000 kms (52,195 miles) on the clock, and the owner has lovingly restored this car to great original condition.  On most cars of its age, these are great selling points, but this is an Audi RS2…in North America, if you want one of these, it’s not like you can just move on to the next one.  This car is for sale for $32,000, and to be honest, this car is worth every penny.  This is a car that I absolutely would love to own, which makes me wonder…what are kidneys selling for on the black market these days?
