I’ve seen some pretty bizarre stuff, but this one might take it.
This is a 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera S wearing a black vinyl wrap and an interior that began life as black leather and has been transformed into something I don’t even like. Why people do this and think it’s a good idea is beyond me. Why people do this and think it actually adds value to a car is living on another planet. I’m ready to throw my hands up on this one.

I’ve said it before, but there is such a thing as too much when it comes to design and colors. Maybe doing 11 different colors on your build is about seven too many. Just because they offer it, doesn’t mean you should click the little box. Today’s car, a terrific 2020 Porsche 718 Spyder, maybe falls into that category of doing too much. Take a look and you’ll see what I mean.

I am admittedly not a huge fan of the Mercedes-Benz CLA/GLA Class. They certainly were built to be entry-level cars and because of this, were a huge hit. Mercedes-Benz USA boss Steve Cannon stated “This is our best launch in 20 years,” when talking about the CLA because people love cheap stuff. It is no mistake you will see these most often during your daily travels, despite their lackluster offerings. However, they sell and Mercedes-AMG even took a handful of them to produce the CLA35 and CLA45. Today’s car, the CLA35, packs the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four that thankfully sends power to all four wheels and not just the front like the rest of the model range. However, that interior still kills me. Let me show you what I mean.

I have to give it to Mercedes, they milked as much as they could from the C190 AMG GT chassis. Launched for the 2015 model year, the lineup includes the GT, GT S, GT C, GT R, GT R Pro, GT and GT C Roadster, GT Black Series, and the track-only GT Track Series. Missing from that list is today’s car, the GT R Roadster. Production was limited to just 750 units – probably because they wanted people to just go buy the SL63 AMG.

I know I’m all about the colors, but some maybe are just a tad too far. Case in point: Lizard Green. This is a color you need to be prepared to be asked about every time you stop for fuel. It is so crazy that it is even a little tough to be taken seriously. If you are a lawyer, have fun driving this one to court dates. A C-level exec at a large company? Nothing says “I make a ton of money!” like a lime green Porsche parked out front. You have to own this color and own it fully. Thankfully the car that it is painted on, a 2020 911 Carrera S, has the numbers to back it up. Independent reviews are still clocking this thing to 60-mph in 3 seconds flat and standing ¼-mile times of 11.3 seconds. It is that fast – all while being totally comfortable and reliable. What a world!
