A reader of ours contacted us over the weekend asking us for insight into the BMW E30, specifically the M3, seeking out a bit of information and our opinion on where values were headed. This car has become a cult classic and the team here at GCFSB is doing their best to highlight the best of the best on the market and track values. This 318is for sale in Pennsylvania may not be of EAG stock, but with just over 63,000 miles on the clock, it’s well worth a second glance for the E30 fan.

It seems that another generation of small BMW hatchbacks – I’m looking at you, 1 series – will be passing us by here in the US market. But, not many people can blame BMW, as there were few takers for its mid 1990s experiment, the 3 series Compact. Sold here as the 318ti with the 1.9 liter four cylinder engine found in the Z3 Roadster, this car was all E36 saloon from the A-pillar forward but carried a vastly redesigned hatchback rear section with trailing arm rear suspension and simpler, one piece dashboard inside. This 318ti for sale in Pennsylvania has the rare California Roof option, which equips the 3er hatchback with a canvas folding roof, providing almost targa-like motoring pleasure.

2 CommentsWe’re doing our best to keep up with a popular modern classic now migrating to US shores given the 25 year importation threshold has been met: the BMW E30 Touring. By the time they make it to these shores, prices are not exactly bargain basement, nor have they hit the stratosphere like their M3 counterpart. Need a reason to go on holiday to Europe? Why not take a side jaunt to Germany to pick up one? This 1989 325i Touring for sale north of Munich was owned by an elderly gentleman and has the desirable combination of the M20 engine and 5-speed manual gearbox.

4 CommentsBeing an East Coaster, I look upon car enthusiasts in California with envy. Washington, DC isn’t really a car guy kind of town. There’s a lot of fancy new machinery tooling around the block here, but anyone can go out and buy a new car provided they have the resources. The classics, however, seem scarce. As such, it makes me lust after a modern classic like this BMW 318i Cabriolet even more, just to stand out from the herd. There seems to be a never ending supply of clean, rust-free classics on the left coast and this open-roofed Bimmer fits the description.

3 CommentsOne of the most popular automotive forbidden fruits for US car enthusiasts is the BMW E30 3 series Touring. Now over 25 years old and eligible for importation, it seems that a steady stream of these small estate cars are arriving on these shores. For E30 fans who may have given up their beloved rides years ago with the pressures of family and a changing lifestyle, this car solves many of those space needs. There was even a four-wheel drive variant available for those who may need added traction, but we have yet to come across one in the US. Imported from England last year, this right-hand drive 1988 325i Touring for sale in Florida is an original car with some tasteful modifications.
