1967 Porsche 911 Vintage Racer

As one of the icons of road-racing history, it isn’t surprising that 911 owners frequently choose to convert their classic street cars into vintage racers. While not every 911 was built to be raced, the underlying genes of these cars were derived from racing and Porsche continues to push and refine the 911’s dynamic capabilities in order to produce some of the best road-racing cars available from any marque. A racer from the ’60s will usually fall well short of the performance to be had from a modern 911, but for that classic feel a vintage racer makes for a pleasing alternative. The car featured here is a 1967 Porsche 911 located in California that, while remaining streetable, comes with a rebuilt race engine and an interior set up principally for racing.

1989 Porsche 930 Turbo Slantnose Cabriolet

The eighties were a time of experimentation in outrageousness when it came to automotive styling. From the flared gills of the Ferrari Testarossa to wide fendered hot rods from the Mercedes-Benz tuning firm, AMG, the sky was the limit. There was one styling modification that I was never too particularly fond of, and it came by way of the number 505, otherwise known as the factory option code for Flachbau (slantnose). This option eviscerated the classic front end profile of the 911 for a decidedly eighties appearance by way of a wedge shape front end with pop-up headlamps. Who ever would go to the lengths of modifying a classic design like the 911 was beyond me. But, only a limited run of these were manufactured, much to the joy of purists everywhere. Perhaps this spoke to how popular this option was amongst 911 buyers? Whatever the case may be, this Slantnose Cabriolet for sale in New Jersey is but a handful that were produced in the 3.2 Carrera’s final year.

Many people around the world today are celebrating Boxing Day, a day that has been described as a sort of second Christmas. Traditionally this is the date when laborers would receive gifts and offerings from their employers in exchange for their service, but it has evolved into a Black Friday, with retailers passing on post-Christmas specials to consumers. This Boxing Day, why not celebrate with a sports car that has the heart of a boxer? The Porsche 993. This final year 993 Targa for sale in Texas is wearing the iconic Arena Red from the era and has covered a scant 36,000 miles since new.

1986 Ruf BTR Cabriolet

A Ruf built 930 hardly needs much introduction on these pages. Ruf produced the BTR, a modified 911 based on the Porsche 930, as both a Coupe and a Cabriolet with each of those variants also coming along with the even more rare Slantnose option. The already potent turbocharged engine of the 930 was coaxed to deliver 374 hp to the rear wheels, making an already very quick and lively car into one of the best performing cars of its day. While the BTR is neither as well known nor as powerful as the famous CTR Yellowbird that was produced around the same time, it remains a highly sought after vehicle from one of the automotive-tuning world’s most respected brands. The car we see here is a 1986 Ruf BTR Cabriolet located in Colorado with just over 31,000 miles.
