The Volkswagen Cabriolet is a car that has enjoyed popularity with women, but if there was one particular version of the venerable open roofed VW that could have increased the appeal amongst the fairer sex it would have been this car, the Mk1 Etienne Aigner Edition Cabriolet. Volkswagen created a plethora of special edition models over the years, but the Mk2 went a bit overboard with this tradition, with well over 50 different limited edition models offered over the course of the production run. The special edition craze was a bit less widespread amongst the Cabriolet, which was sold in Mk1 form alongside the Mk2. A few versions such as the Wolfsburg, CC and Carat appeared along with the Etienne Aigner, which was available in Mangrove Green, Midnight Blue, or Bordeaux Red, as we see on this example for sale in New Jersey.

Another week, another Porsche 930 Slantnose for sale. Seems like they are everywhere, doesn’t it? As soon as the last Slantnose Cabriolet we featured went live, it sold within one day. If red was a bit too outlandish on that particular car, perhaps this 1989 930 Slantnose Cabriolet for sale from our reader Frank may be more to your liking. Painted in a more reserved Black over Linen combination, this car represents the final year for the 930 Turbo, the sole year to feature a 5-speed manual gearbox with the 3.3 liter turbocharged flat-6.

2 CommentsThe 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL we featured last week did not sell, but the seller has since discounted the price by $4,000. If the SL roadsters that preceded it are any guide, we might be looking at a point where you can get in an R107 at close to the ground floor.

4 CommentsTaking over from the pre-war 170, the Ponton was Mercedes-Benz’s all-new design, which would help the company emerge from the ashes of war and help mold it into the recognized luxury vehicle manufacturer it is today. This platform spawned a number of variants, one of which was a rather reserved, elegant four-place cabriolet like the example we see here for sale in Arizona. With a modest 105 horsepower inline-6 hooked up to a 4-speed manual, it’s just enough for the relaxed cruising a classic Benz like this inspires.

1 CommentThe 1957 Mercedes-Benz 190SL we featured last month is back up for auction. Long forgotten amidst other, more popular SL models, this roadster has finally started to see an uptick in values, with good ones reaching into solid six figure territory. Will this one meet its reserve this time around?
