Tuner Tuesday: 1985 Porsche Heynsdyk 2500SF

File this car under the “whatzit” category. At first I thought this modern day tribute to Porsches of the past must have been based on a 911. Wrong. This is a 944 in disguise, built by a Dutch firm called Heynsdyk. The company no longer exists, having gone into bankruptcy in 2012, but before that happened, they managed to crank out a few of these roadsters for anyone who was getting a bit bored with their Porsche 944. This 2500SF has the normally aspirated 2.5 liter inline-4 under the bonnet. For those who might not have been turned on by the 944 Cabriolet but sought some open top enjoyment with their well-balanced chassis, this car might be the solution.

Porsche Heynsdyk 2500 SF 1985 in good condition

The Heynsdyk 2500 SF is an open sportscar, made in Holland. This is 1 of 17 ever built. Both the in- and outside are in beautiful and good condition with some traces of use. The car has the 2479 CC, 4 cyl, 163 HP engine and 5 speed manual gearbox. In combination with the good weight distribution the car drives great. So this Porsche is a beautiful and very unique sportscar.

Car has Holland title and Holland mot/tuv. You do not need to pay any import taxes. We can help with transport.

To be honest, the side proportions of this Heynsdyk are a tad bit quirky in my opinion. It almost looks as if two separate cars were joined together right around the rear portion of the door. Not exactly the smoothest execution, but I do rather like the rear end treatment. There’s no telling what something like this is worth. With 944 prices on the rise, some purists might think it’s sacrilege to chop up a perfectly good transaxle Porsche and charge a premium for the result. However, if you want to stand out from the usual crowd of 1980s vintage Porsches, this is one very obscure and exclusive way of doing it.

Hmmmm…it’s like there are angles and parts to it that look fantastic. But as you move around it and take in the big picture, you get hit with moments of terror. Kind of like a girl I met in college, dancing, dim lighting. Saw her the next day and “AHHHH!”

Interesting concept. Unique. But I can think of much better ways to stand out with $60k, especially given that it’s a NA 2.5.

You’d be the only one at Cars & Coffee with one

Nice color — if indeed there is as much blue in that silver as I think there is.

Seller’s chances would be much improved if they would perform an engine bay detailing. My lawn tractor is cleaner under the hood

There are still so many 944s out there that it’s ok to modify them a bit, track them, whatever. Having said that, I’d rather see another regular 944 than this monstrosity any day.
