1991 Mercedes-Benz E500 Estate

The 1979 Mercedes-Benz 280CE Convertible we featured yesterday afternoon got me thinking about what other models I wish the company would have contemplated. High up on my list is this tribute that we see here, a 1991 E500 Estate. Technically, we should call it a 500E Estate as the nomenclature change didn’t take hold until the 1994 model year. Regardless of the name, this beefy, modified W124 T-model for sale south of Hamburg has stealth written all over it.

Fantastic E500 with a T-model (wagon) body! A dream Mercedes not originally available. This custom-made piece is a hot rod on the road. In January 2006, the quality restoration took place, with the rear end of a T-model. The technical report from 2011 describes the car as in every detail perfect. This is a collectible classic cars with perfect driving dynamics.

There’s been a fair amount of time since this car’s restoration, so it would have been helpful if the seller had provided a kilometer figure. Also, price on arrival can seem a bit presumptuous. With 500E/E500 prices strong at the moment, no doubt the seller is expecting this hot hauler to bring a decent coin. It’s a bit hard to get a read value wise on this car, first because this model never exited and second there is little history to go on. But if you have to have a V8 W124 estate, it would be a whole lot easier to buy one already built than to undertake the project yourself. But for some folks, that’s all in a day’s fun when it comes to the car hobby.

I’ve seen couple 500E with manual trans upgrades never a Estate turned into 500E ..being a wagon guy who’s had couple W124 I think its fantastic (standard trans would bee even better)
would love to see a top gear shoot out vs E34 M5 wagon at Nürburgring

If you were going to do a 500E Estate v. M5 Touring, it would be silly to not include the S6+ Avant! But boy would that be interesting!
