We featured a 1969 300SEL 6.3 back in March, and here comes another mint example for sale in California for the discerning enthusiast. This car has covered just over 50,000 miles from new and has been treated to a recent service. These were luxury saloons ahead of their time in terms of performance and set the tone for generations of performance Mercedes-Benzes to come. This, then, is an Mercedes icon of epic proportions.

Silver isn’t the most interesting hue for a classic Mercedes, but it adds to the subtle nature of this sedan, leaving little evidence of what lurks beneath the hood. This particular 6.3 is priced within a reasonable realm when it comes to a no excuse example. And considering what some vintage Mercedes-Benzes are pulling these days, such as the 190SL, 6.3 values look like a bargain in comparison for what these cars offer. Will these be the next classics to take off? I often feel guilty of looking at classics like this as investments, but if you’re looking for somewhere to park your money these days, there are much worse places to do it than a 6.3.

I’m interested in buying a 1981–1985 Mercedes-Benz 300CD Turbo.
Question – what is the best year for this model and why?
