During a trip to Germany in 2008, I stopped by the BMW Zentrum in Munich to check out the wares on the showroom floor and indulge in some of their collection from years past. One of the cars on display was an Inka Orange 2002tii. This was my favorite color for a 2002. It really captured the essence of the period in question and gave this car a cheerful appearance. This 2002tii for sale outside of New York City is not quite as pristine an example as the BMW restored car I saw in Munich, but with a 5-speed manual gearbox and some nice leather Recaro seats, you’ll be ready for some long-distance cruising in no time.

1976 BMW 2002 Sunroof Coupe finished in Inka Orange with Black Recaro Sport seats. It is not an easy task to describe the effort and love that was put into this car to make it a fine tuned, quick and reliable vintage sports car that is just as home running through the twisties on the back roads of Connecticut or Mulholland Drive as it is on the Road Courses, like Limerock or Watkins Glen. It really has to be driven to be appreciated. I can tell you what was done to the car over the last 38 years to turn it into this amazing little rocket. It has been driven just 143,800 documented two owner miles since new.
The engine was built by Eric Kerman in 2004 with only approximately 5,000 miles since it was built. Power is estimated @ 165-175hp / Actual dyno 130hp @ Rear Wheels through Weber Dual 45MM Carbs, 304 Schrick Cam, J&E Pistons, Stahl Street Heade, Larger oil pan w/windage tray, 6 qt system, Oil Cooler w/thermostat (e30 M3), Factory 2002 Turbo Radiator, 5sp Overdrive Trans / Short shift Kit / 390 Limited slip Diff and a Factory 2002 Turbo Exhaust. The suspension is comprised of 2002tii Front struts w/coil over, late 320i front hubs (bigger bearings tii), factory close ratio steering box bought NOS, Bilstien Sport Shocks, Suspension Techniques Sway bars 22MM/19MM, all polyurethane bushings, adjustable front camber plates with rear mount battery. The brakes are 2002tii Booster & Master Cylinder with 1977 320i Vented Rotors, 1980 530i Front Calipers, 1980 320i Rear Drums (larger diam) and all stainless lines. The wheels are factory BBS e30 15×7 4 bolt with Yokohama A032R 205/50/15’s mounted. The paint, while painted years ago still shows extremely well with the only imperfections being a few small bubbles on the bottom of the drivers door area. I couldn’t even estimate the cost to duplicate what has been done. What is important is that, it would now cost you only $27,900 to own this remarkable car. All serious inquiries should be directed to Mark Starr @ 914 217-4817.
Even though it’s not an earlier Roundie, I am a huge fan of this particular 2002. The 5-speed conversion is certainly a feature I would want in my 2002, as it would help the car settle down more at speed. And while enthusiasts these days throw the term “stance” around, this 2002 has it. With the larger 15″ BBS wheels, this car sits just right. The asking price here is strong money for a non-tii variant, but this is a well sorted, two-owner example with performance to match. That is sure to put a smile on some Bimmerphile’s face.

You guys are no good miserable bastards. This car is in my backyard and I’ve been playing the lottery daily to generate the fundage needed to buy this, really what amounts to my dream car, and ideal 2002. But you guys have to publicize it meaning it will be gone before long, like before I have funds
