1982 Porsche 928 5-speed

I’m going to shift gears a little and step over to the front-engine side of the Porsche lineup. We have a couple excellent guest contributors who feature the best and most interesting of Porsche’s front-engined cars so any time I wade into this territory it’s really just with a sense of “hey, I like this car, it looks good and the price doesn’t seem too bad, why not feature it.” So, I like this 928! It looks good and the price doesn’t seem too bad! Here we have a Black Metallic 1982 Porsche 928, located in Tennessee, with Brown interior, a 5-speed manual transmission, and only 54,698 miles on it. It’s said to be in entirely original condition and with good documentation and if those two points both check out it looks like a nice option for a fairly early example of Porsche’s V8 Grand Tourer.

Up for sale is this extremely clean and well documented 1982 Porsche 928 5-Speed. This 928 comes complete with books, 2 keys, rear cargo cover, tool kit, spare, jack, leather bra, COA, and other records. This is an unrestored, original 54k mile car. The paint is in excellent condition with only a few small chips and small imperfections here and there. The interior is in fantastic condition with minimal wear. Mechanically it is rock solid and everything works including the AC, headlights, all instrumentation, etc. Belts and rubber bits are in great shape needing no attention. The tires are nearly new Michelins. These early 928’s are getting harder and harder to find in this condition. Compared to what the 911 market is doing, this 928 is a steal for the money. Please refer to the pictures for the exact cosmetic condition. The only mechanical item that may need to be addressed is the shifting is quite vague (not that it was amazing when new!) Please call or e-mail with any questions. ——————————————————— Disclaimer: *** Mandatory Doc Fee of $250 must be collected and is not included in the sale price.***We do our very best to represent the vehicles we sell both cosmetically and mechanically. Brown isn’t a personal favorite, but I actually like the look of it here. It contrasts well with the exterior and comes together nicely. Perhaps in person I’d sing a different tune, but in pictures I like the look. The general wear of the interior seems reasonable for the age of the car with only the driver’s seat showing much significant wear. For a car nearing 35 years of age, it looks good. The same goes for the exterior. I’d want to have a close look to verify it hasn’t been painted, but the paint here looks in nice shape. Black Metallic is much less common than non-metallic Black and does provide a nice change of pace. Like any 928 a thorough mechanical evaluation will be necessary and hopefully the available documentation provides plenty of insight as well. The price seems about top end for this vintage of 928 and given that the (arguably) more interesting and lower mileage Green 928 Andy featured sold for a little under this price ($23,065) then this one is probably too high. But perhaps right around $20K would be suitable if everything checks out?

I agree that this is a sharp looking color combo and it appears to be in nice shape.

However, at the asking price, I would think they would have resolved any shifter quality issues.
