1984 Porsche 944 with 7,500 Miles

Unlike a lot of my car enthusiast friends, I like the Porsche 944. It always surprises me when I show people a picture of one or point one out on the street, I get the usual lukewarm reaction. Maybe the 911 is so ingrained in peoples’ minds as what a proper Porsche should be that they forget about these capable sports coupes. Whatever the case may be, these cars represent a decent value in comparison to their stable mates. This early 944 is another one of those low mileage garage queens, with just 7,500 miles on the odometer.

No doubt this is one of the earliest, lowest mileage 944s I’ve come across, but does that make it a $25,000 car? Probably not. At the most, the seller might be lucky to get $16,000 or $17,000. There are plenty of other later 944s and 968s out there with higher, but not unreasonable mileage that you wouldn’t feel guilty about spoiling. Unless you owned a museum or simply had to have a showroom original, this car doesn’t make a lot of sense. But it is nice to come across these preserved examples of the classics we love, as it brings back memories for some.

Nice it’s not red over black.

Those sports seats are a rare option as well.

I really like this car, but a realistic price would be low teens.

Seller is fishing. Maybe he’ll catch something, maybe not. Just because it’s an ultra-low mileage car, doesn’t mean it’s a particularly collectible model worthy of sticking in a warehouse somewhere (while all sorts of parts age, thereby making it useless as a drivable car). Personally, I like the 944 a lot, but I would seek a nicer driver quality car with reasonable mileage and a good maintenance history for 1/3 the price.

memories… had some good times in high school driving a new ’84 944 with exactly the same interior.

Hey Poorhouse, are those seats really that rare? My friend has them in his beat up and run down 944 that was a hand me down.
