1985 Volkswagen Transporter DoKa

2z85cw0

Earlier this week I posted a DoKa of such questionable taste that I would have posted it in our Friday Fail series if the auction had lasted long enough. Well, today we’ll right those wrongs with a Friday Win in the form of a gorgeous but barely-modified DoKa. It comes one owner removed from GoWesty, who, for all my gripes about their ludicrous prices, certainly do things right and take excellent care of Volkswagen vans. This one has been repainted in the Playmobil-perfect and T2-correct light blue with black bedliner on the lower portions as well as the bed and hinged sides. With just 95k miles, it has decades of life left in it. It may be on the utilitarian side of things with no frills inside or out (not even a Euro-map GPS!), but you can bet that the condition and GoWesty history will help it collect some serious interest.

Up for sale is a beautiful 1985 VW Doka purchased from GoWesty. The engine runs perfect. The exterior is 100% restored. The interior is original and needs a little care. The seats need some minor stitching, but we will have it fixed. The Doka received a complete tune-up and oil change.

New tires
New front brakes (pad and discs)
New battery
New rotor cap
New spark plugs.
The car is mechanically sound and runs beautifully. If you need more photos or have any questions, please feel free to ask.

The overall condition of this Doka is in very good and has been customized. The Doka has been bare metal stripped and repainted to factory color. The paint is less than 1 month old. The original paint color is blue and can be seen in the engine compartment. The bottom half has been coated with bed lining. The rear bumper is the heavy duty offroad style and has a custom tow hitch.

Not much wrong here at all, though the “offroad style” rear bumper does look a little incongruous. The Vanagon is probably more versatile in every day life, but if you need to carry light loads, a few friends, or just look cool and out of the ordinary, this is the T2 for you. When it comes to that last part, few cars are as funky and awesome as this one.

I like this a lot. . .it looks good with those hubcaps too. I think the cab color & bed color work too, though I wouldn’t have picked that shad of blue at first, it mostly works.

I wonder how it’s registered/legal in the US. . .maybe slipped under the radar.
