There’s been cars throughout history that have been way ahead of their time. The Chrysler Airflow, Citroën DS and NSU Ro80 are but a few examples of vehicles that were revolutionary in their time and, at least in the case of the Citroen and NSU, look almost modern to this day. At first, I thought this Porsche 928 was an early 1990s example, but this was a first year example of the 928S4, a 1987 model for sale in St. Louis. Just think, for a moment, about the cars that were hanging around on the showroom floor in 1987. The Mercedes-Benz R107 SL was still alive and kicking, as was the Volkswagen Quantum. Branch out past German iron, and you could still order a brand new AMC Eagle. Park this similar vintage 928S4 next to any of these cars and it’s easy to mistake it from another era, let alone a vehicle introduced in the late 1970s.

Hello, you are viewing my 1987 Porsche 928S4 with 76,147 miles. This Porsche is in WONDERFUL condition that is well maintained (over $18,000.00 maintenance receipts in the past 6,000 miles). The silver paint is in great condition with a great shine. (some small imperfection or chips)
The burgundy interior is in great condition. No rips or tears in the leather (small wear marks on drivers bolster). The dash does have some cracks; vinyl material is cracked by the drives door lock button. Headliner and carpet are in good condition. Overall very nice and presentable!
Mechanically the car is EXCELLENT! Runs, drives and shifts perfect. I have over $18,000.00 in maintenance receipts, that include timing belt, water pump, AC Compressor, evaporator and hoses (134a). Devek Performance Radiator, transmission and oil cooler. Rebuilt transmission and torque tube, new distributor caps and wires and MUCH MUCH more. Everything works as it should. The heat blows hot and the air conditioner blows cold . Tires and 17″ cup wheels are newer with less than 1,000 miles on them. I would not hesitate to drive this car on a 2000 mile road trip. Also included are tools, books and record.
The car is sold in “As Is Condition.” I do welcome and encourage pre-sale inspections.

For a while, 928 values were what you could consider bargain basement, but repairs and upkeep are anything but. This led a lot of 928s, of all vintages, to sit around and languish in the hands of owners who weren’t motivated to invest the time or money in what more often than not was a losing financial proposition. Prices for all but the late model 928GTS are still at reasonable levels. A lot of money has been dumped into this particular 928S4, but it would still be worth having a full inspection done on it to make sure there aren’t any lingering gremlins.

Looking at one of the pictures, my type of garage. A 1980’s Porsche, a 328 GTS/Mondial, and a 500/560 SEL AMG.
