With 170k miles, anything over $5,000 would be a bit much for this car. $3,500 to $4,000 is probably a solid bet for what would be a good, most likely hassle free and efficient commuter vehicle that would stand out from the herd.

these hatchback’s are hella fun….with lots of mod potential & support on 318ti.org ..lots of E36 m3 s54 swaps out there so theres a upside to a tired M44..I have a white 98 M-sport with 90,000 miles that I bought from original owner been lots of fun past couple yrs…I;m always on the fence about selling it but its has a blend on fun while also being very practical..lots of space especially with seats folded…why hasn’t BMW brought us another hatchback instead choosing to alienate this segment in the US & go ridiculously upscale..there were rumors that the E46 hatchback was coming back when it was new but BMW flaked out…maybe the 1 series hatchback diesel if we beg enough….
