There’s a lot of cars that I sit here and think if only they were still manufactured, they would still find buyers. One car that sticks out in my mind is the E38 BMW 7 series. While the 7 series that preceded it, the E32, pushed this model into the executive sedan mainstream, the E38 cemented BMW’s place in that segment. But then came the E65 7 series in 2002 which polarized BMW traditionalists with it’s avant garde styling and complex electronic wizardry. Time has passed and the criticism of that 7 series has softened, but one thing it won’t do is age as gracefully as the E38. Want to play CEO? This 740i for sale in Nebraska has but 25k miles and will let you live out that fantasy.

This 1998 BMW 740I, Steptronic Automatic Transmission, 4.4L, V8, rear wheel drive, Luxury Package Sedan is a ONE OF A KIND! I am selling it because I do not drive it any longer and it deserves more than sitting in a garage. I am at a time in my life where I need to disburse of much. The original MSRP was $67,435. This car has extremely low mileage at 25,510 miles. To the best of my knowledge, it has never been driven in rain or snow and only on paved streets/highways. It has been garaged in a temperature controlled environment. Its superb like-new condition as you will see in the pictures, is a tribute to itself. It comes with the vehicle manuals and maintenance records. This clean titled, two owner vehicle was originally Certified Pre-Owned when I purchased it in September 2000. The certification and BMW Owners Card and Customer Information Statement are included.
The Pearl Black exterior and Black Leather with wood trim interior make this beauty quite regal in appearance. I am not aware of any chips or dings in the exterior or any damage to the interior. It is very clean and has been well maintained. Added options include: Premium Sound pkg.; Climate Comfort laminated glass; Rear Sunshades; Multi-Contoured Seats; Custom Dunlop low-profile wheels and SunGard Solar Control 35/20 Professional Window Tinting; 6 Disk-CD Changer; Storage compartment for golf bag. The power locks/windows/heated front seats with memory positioning, sun roof and other options make this car as fully loaded as they could build them in ’98. It drives and runs beautifully. It has a new battery, fuel pump, fuel level sensor and fuel filter. With the minimal miles this car has had in the last few years the BMW dealership that inspected the car for selling recommends a brake fluid flush, power steering flush and coolant flush in the future. Payment Forms: Cash; Cashier’s Check.
I’ve seen some higher mileage E38s advertised well over the $12,500 ask. There appears to be little wear on the seats which affirms the mileage shown. The Style 32 wheels shown here aren’t offensive, but I’d probably try and swap for a nice set of Style 37 M Parallels. If everything on this 740i checks out and no apparent gremlins appear to be lurking, someone is getting a lot of car for the money.

What a great, beautiful car!
i’d love one of these…but i would be interested to know what the yearly expenses are on a car like this.
has anyone purchased a top of the line monster like this for $12k?
you’d have to admit that luxury cars are the fastest depreciating asset money can buy…
this car was probably $70K (it today’s money) in 98…FFW to 2014 and it’d worth 15-20% of its value even with the limited miles! that is a pretty steep decline!
i still love it though!
