I have to say the fascination with BMW wagons and their ensuing high prices sometimes perplexes me, as Audi offered a sporty, manual, all-wheel drive Avant that is great looking, reliable and long-lived and will make you feel pretty special. That’s especially so when it’s optioned in one of the more rare shades available on the B5; today’s example is Cactus Green Mica. It looks great offset by Celebration wheels, and it’s got a lot of recent maintenance – so let’s take a look!

It’s interesting that the car has a cloth interior; I haven’t seen many 2.8s delivered in that configuration, as it was the material more often seen in the sporty 1.8T models. It looks nice but is a slightly odd combination with the green exterior in my eyes. The Celebration alloys are neato, if unusual to see on a B5, and the lowered suspension gives a purposeful look. All in all, it looks sharp and the seller’s round of recent maintenance should be a boon. But did I say these were less expensive than BMWs? Wow, $15,000 seems like a lot for what is not an S4 Avant to me. It’s great to look at and I love B5s, but would you drop $15,000 on a 22-year-old 2.8 quattro?.
