2002 BMW M3 Convertible

If you were hoping to jump into the E46 M3 world…well, now’s not a super great time to do so. Top examples are fetching over $90,000, and even just “really nice” ones are in the $40-$50k range suddenly. If you want to have the M3 experience for less money; you need to narrow your focus to include one of two things – the much-hated and broadly misunderstood SMG, or a convertible.

Today’s car is obviously the latter of the two, but it’s got a manual gearbox. The fun doesn’t end there, as it’s one of my favorite color combinations – Oxford Green Metallic over Cinnamon leather upholstery. Someone even threw a set of the super-cool 19″ Fuchs-made Style 67s on it, and boy does it look good. Does it break the bank?

Up for sale is my 2002 BMW E46 M3. Clean title, no accidents, and has been very well taken care of. The car sits in excellent shape for its age. Color is Oxford Green Metallic on Cinnamon leather interior. The car is equipped with a 6 speed manual transmission that shifts fantastic. Engine is phenomenal and idles healthy. The car is fully stock. The car sits on great condition 19″ OEM wheels. Ride quality in this car is fantastic. This car has about 114,000 miles which is considered extremely low for the vehicle’s age. Car has undergone tons of preventative maintenance with oil changes every 5,000 miles. It just underwent a 10 hour professional detail that corrected every swirl. The paint is in EXCELLENT condition. I tried to show that in the pictures as best as I could.

Subframe has been inspected and is an excellent shape. No issues with Vanos either. Undercarriage is spotless. No lights on the dash. The car will come with original floor mats, convertible windscreen, manuals, keys, and a plethora of service records detailing the car’s extensive maintenance history. I hold the title with no liens- Just ready to be signed to the next owner.

With that being said, I am asking $27,900 for the car. Please do not low-ball as I will simply ignore. Cash only. I do not need help selling the car, nor am I in a rush to sell. This car is in great shape as you will not find one as clean and well taken care of in the midwest. Car will be freshly detailed & sanitized for buyer’s safety.

Please contact me if interested at (872) 205-58 zero three. Text is preferred due to busy work schedule. I can ship the car if you are out of state upon buyer’s expense through my friend’s auto transport company. Thank you!

So the seller says that it’s fully stock, but I think the wheels were added; they don’t show on a decode of the VIN. It appears to have the Premium Package and stand-alone seat heaters rather than the Cold Weather Package, as it’s got no headlight washing system. Semi-unusual to see on a Premium Package car is the lack of xenon headlights, but this one didn’t come with them. The front reflectors are also painted body color, and there appears to be damage on the front bumper cover. Condition appears to be far above average and the seller claims it’s got a heavy maintenance folder, and mileage is not super low but also not high. In all, it looks like a nice example in a nice color combination.

Is this a $28,000 car today? Honestly, though I love the color combination I think the price is probably on the high side for the mileage. Look around and you can get a pretty solid example with half the mileage for less, but perhaps if the seller was willing to negotiate a bit this one could be brought down to a more reasonable level.

This car is gorgeous; the leather looks like new, which is shocking for a convertible especially. I can’t seem to figure out why there is a cassette deck instead of a CD player though, and yes, the front bumper looks pretty rough for $28k.

E46 M3 cabriolet production was nearly half of the coupe numbers; plus, they are more often than not neglected and / or clapped out by owners who can’t really afford them and junked at a much higher rate than the coupes, which tend to be cherished by careful owners at this point. One day soon it will be very rare to find one in good condition.

My old 2003 M3 Convertible came with the Style 67’s:
    792 M Lt/aly Wheels Double Spoke 67, 19″ M Lm-raeder Doppelspeiche 67, 19″
Did you decode the VIN and not see them listed? Either way, my favorite wheels.

Nevermind. I reread the article. Is it common that no wheels are listed? I just looked at the VIN printouts for all 6 BMW’s that Ive owned, and all of them have the style of wheels listed.

Thanks, Carter. I appreciate your knowledge. Apparently my M3 was built a month after yours and had the 67’s listed. The VIN is WBSBR93413PK03565 if you want to look it up. Interestingly, mine had the 481 Sports Seats which yours doesn’t appear to have. HMU on email if you want to discuss further.
