1995 Mercedes-Benz C36 AMG

The Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG carried on the tradition of jamming a big engine into a modest package to produce big time performance. The more I delve into AMG history, however, I am intrigued by the C43’s predecessor, the C36 AMG. This was AMG’s first in-house collaboration with Mercedes-Benz. While it may be down on horsepower, it’s a rarer find than the V8 variants that succeeded it. We featured a final year C36 AMG earlier this month, but here is a low mileage black example for sale in Wisconsin.

1979 Mercedes-Benz 300TD with 55k miles

The Mercedes-Benz W123 is one of those few cars that blends luxury and practicality in one stoic package. If a W123 could play a round of poker, you probably would have a hard time getting a read on it. These are cars that go the distance with little complaint. While many have been run for hundreds of thousands of miles, some looking worse for wear than others, this 1979 300TD for sale in New Jersey is a remarkable survivor.

1989 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet

A cabriolet parked next to the ocean. If you were trying to sell a Baltic Blue 911 Cabriolet, you could certainly come up with a worse place to photograph it. Idyllic settings are what make open-top motoring so appealing. With the top down even a hot summer day feels a lot cooler as you watch the scenery rush by and enjoy the ocean air. This Baltic Blue 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet, located in Tampa, Florida, comes in with 63,621 miles. While the 3.2 Carrera is no longer the bargain it once was, many of the examples outside of the rare 20K-mileage-and-less range have yet to appreciate to quite the same degree. However, those days are surely numbered so anyone who had hopes of owning one of the last classic 911s will need to act soon.

Two Tourings: 1972 and 1973 BMW 2000s

Wagon, avant, touring, shooting brake, longroof – however you wan to call it, I’ve always had a thing for cars with a little more junk in the trunk. This is amplified when it is a unique variant that was never sold in the US. Case in point, today’s two beautiful Neue Klasses eschews the classic 3-box shape of what many consider the original sports sedan, and instead has a great little hatch mated to that unmistakable, round-eyed front clip. Both have less than 120k miles and are asking significant mark-ups over standard 2000 BMWs.
