Motorsport Mondays: 1986 BMW 325 NASA Spec

Most of us who are car enthusiasts have a desire at some point or another to go racing. Ever since watching my uncle work the Sports Car Club of America ITE circuit with this ’88 Corvette, I was hooked. The constraints of urban living make having a dedicated race machine a bit impossible, but one can dream. This 1986 BMW 325 built to National Auto Sport Association specifications seems like a good place to start satisfying the urge for those who have track day visions.

Feature Listing: 1992 Volkswagen Corrado SLC with 52k miles

Sometimes lightning does strike twice. The low mileage Corrado SLC that we featured last month was one of those cars you just don’t come across very often. Or was it? Here comes another mint condition Corrado SLC for sale in California from our reader Christian. He bought the car from its original owner, it has covered just over 52,000 miles and it’s red. Do sport coupes from the 1990s get any better than this?

1969 Porsche 911E Coupe

It’s nice to see another of the more interesting colors available for the 911. Bahama Yellow even brings with it a touch of subtlety relative to some of the other yellows available, which really shows in the hilly vineyard scenery of the pictures here. 1969 is also important for the 911 as it was the year Porsche extended the wheelbase by 57 mm across the 911 range so as to provide more balanced dynamics. The 911E was the mid-range model available, between the entry-level 911T and sportier 911S. These were distinguished from the T by having upgraded interior as well as Bosch fuel injection rather than the Weber carbs of the T. In all, the E had more power, better dynamics, and a more luxurious interior than the T and on the current market they strike a nice balance that doesn’t reach the monetary heights necessary to purchase the extremely desirable S.

1988 BMW 535is

$_57 (3)

The 535is provides a lot of E28 bang for your bucks, with the spoilers and much of the handling improvements of the M5 along with a lot more color choices and lower maintenance costs. The M30 is a beast that can go for Mercedes-diesel-type miles, and all the while you’re cruising in one of my personal-favorite car designs. Today’s is a well-used example that has been cared for enough to still be a good buy. The 80s-BMW price bug may hit these some day, but for now they’re one of the best bargains out there as the M-cars and the E30 “is” models become coveted and values are driven up.
