1987 BMW 535is

The 535is was the first E28 that really caught my eye and led to my pursuit of the M5. Back then, the allure was just a very sharp 80s sedan with some subtle aggressive tweaks – exactly how I like it. There are at least two gorgeous red examples in my area, and the rare times I see them out are always a treat. Today’s example comes well-used, with a lot of miles and some general cosmetic love needed. The Borbet wheels will probably be polarizing, but I’ve seen worse choices. The biggest draw here is the no-reserve auction, and this could be a great entry point to the E28 life.

1993 Volkswagen Corrado SLC – REVISIT

Time to look at another Corrado SLC that’s crossed these pages before; back in July, I wrote up this very clean looking 1993 example with some stellar BBS RSs. Unfortunately, the car is an automatic and the big stereo was a turn off; I guessed this car would likely trade hands in the high single digits. Well, it’s back up for sale with a different seller, a pretty extensive gallery of photos showing the very good detailing job they did and a new higher price. It also inexplicably now has 26 miles less than it did last time. Now for offer at $10,900, I don’t see any reason that it’s worth more than it was the first time around. I’d still peg the value between $8,000 and $9,000; for nearly $11,000, I’d much prefer to offer a bit more and try to nab the pristine 1992 5-speed we featured with 100,000 miles less. What do you think is top dollar for this car?

2001 BMW Z3 Coupe

I feel kind of bad for the Z3 Coupe. The M Coupe of the same period has become a cult icon, but in the process, its sibling with less horsepower seems to be on the outside looking in. The Z3 Coupe, however, is a perfectly capable car in its own right. It might lack the Motorsport edge, but you can still get plenty of thrills out of this machine and have a decent amount of space in the back for that quick weekend getaway. Head still spinning from that expensive, low-mileage M Coupe we featured on our Facebook page yesterday? This Clownshoe is a little bit easier on the wallet.

1993 Porsche 911 RS America

Few models in the 911 range epitomize the sharp increase in value we’ve seen with air-cooled 911s better than the RS America. While the asking price for many of these cars has tended to far eclipse those actual values, we are still seeing these trade for quite a bit more than just a year or two ago. The RS America always traded at a premium relative to other non-Turbo 964 variants for the simple fact of its rarity and sporting nature, but for a time it was rare to see one priced above $60K or $70K. Now, it has become almost as rare to find one priced below $100K! So while the RS America may have begun its life as a less expensive alternative to the Carrera 2 it is now a far more expensive proposition. The example we see here is a rare Polar Silver Metallic 1993 Porsche 911 RS America, located in Oregon, with 57,934 miles equipped with 3 of the 4 available options: air-conditioning, limited-slip, and radio.

1974 BMW 2002 S14

The surge in popularity of the E30 M3 has drawn into stark contrast what an incredible deal you can get on classic BMWs, and the 2002 is not only a fan favorite but also a great example. In many ways, the E10 spawned the idea of the small German performance sedan and since inception they’ve not only been popular choices as transportation, but indeed great tuning and racing platforms. However, a recent surge in prices have brought many to the market as owners try to capitalize on the increased value, so we’ve seen some great labors of love turn up for sale. This is one such case; a restored and resto-modded 2002 with a great match for a powerplant – the venerable S14:
