2022 BMW M4 Competition xDrive Convertible Individual

There’s no doubt that the G8x M3 and M4 are…polarizing. If the styling wasn’t enough to push you off, in order to keep up with the Joneses, BMW added all-wheel drive to the lineup as well. The results are undeniable; the M4 Competition xDrive coupe hits 60 in just 2.8 seconds thanks mostly to the system being able to channel its 503 horsepower to the ground. Remember when that was quick for a bike? Despite their nearly two-ton curb weight, they’re also capable of 1g-plus in the corners, thanks in no small part to the 19 and 20″ wheels with super-sticky Michelins that are part of the Competition Package. The all-wheel-drive system also adds a surprisingly small amount of weight, and it can be reverted to rear-drive only; quite the trick. The convertible also went from the complicated and heavy hardtop mechanism to a more traditional soft top for the first time since the E46. That meant it was about 40% lighter than the hardtop, though it does limit the color pallet.

In the convertible version, the M4 is limited to Competition and xDrive configuration. So equipped, it starts at over $87k – and this one adds in Executive package for $1,800, the M Driver’s package, $2,500, M Drive Professional package for $900, piano black trim for $1,000, neck warmers for $650, front seat ventilation for $350, and the ~$5k Individual charge for its Mint Green paintwork. I’m guessing you’re not going to be surprised by the asking price, as a result:

By my math, this one actually comes in only a bit higher than what it would cost you to order it, amazingly. Is this the car I’d order were I going through the effort to get a BMW Individual car? Most likely, no. But as you can see from the dealership full of brightly-toned Lamborghinis, I’m guessing this one is right up the alley of some of the clientele and was likely configured to grab attention. That it surely does. It’s an amazing performance machine and all-arounder, and a reminder of how much these cars have changed over the past 20 years at the same time

not my favorite color…but it would be ok, if not for the elephant in the room…the front end styling…

Again, someone spent a lot of money to order this super-exciting and gorgeous mint green paintwork.💚💚
Then the person ordering this car chickened out completely and ordered ultra-boring hospital grey interior. Yawn.

Ugly car and ugly color. Not to mention a car impractical for daily driving with the Comp package. As it stands, it’s a poser mobile. BMW stying again jumped the shark with the G8x models.

It is not a special order color and not a boring interior; it is the only interior that matches that color which BMW offers when it was first released. What you view as “boring” is the most attractive colorway that was available at the time.

I’m almost embarrassed to own four 1980s BMWs. Wow that’s ugly!

I love it ! Not so much the convertible version but the fact that this is not a boring black or silver car ! But again I might be biased since I am expecting my signal green base M3 in 2 weeks 🙂

@Mark – are you thinking of Isle of Man Green? That was the launch color; I’m pretty sure this one was run through BMW Individual.

This car is so hideous, that it broke GCFSB.
