1981 Porsche 928

The Porsche 928 is one of those cars that is fast becoming a pipe dream for armchair enthusiasts like myself. For years I’ve heard the nightmares people go through to keep these V8 sports cars running, stories which lead me to believe that these cars are either for the very rich or very brave. Even if I had another parking spot to enjoy this hobby I’m supposedly involved with, would something like this be worth the hassle? Whatever the case may be, my interest has been piqued once again with this Bamboo Beige 1981 Porsche 928.

1995 BMW 540i M Sport

After the Japanese started an onslaught on the mid-sized luxury sedan sector in the 1990s, the Germans were caught a bit off guard. Sure, Audi had already introduced the V8, but it was aimed slightly higher up in the market than the BMW 5 series and the Mercedes-Benz E-class. Nevertheless, both BMW and Mercedes-Benz decided it was high time to jam an eight cylinder powerplant under the hood of their venerable mid-sized offerings. This E34 5 series would receive two V8s, a 3.0 liter and 4.0 liter. This 1995 540i M Sport represents the last year for the E34 but has been likened as an “M5 lite” by enthusiasts. Given that E34 M5 sales ended in 1993, it gave those speed freaks out there one last chance to get a fast five before the E39 would come along in 1996.

1972 Mercedes-Benz 350SL

When the R107 SL first debuted, few could have imagined this roadster would have lasted in production for another eighteen years. This transformative roadster placed more emphasis on comfort and luxury than “sport and light” as its predecessor, the W113 had. Somehow, though, the R107 struck a chord with buyers and became a symbol of status and upward mobility for years to come, appearing prominently in television series and movies alike. This 1972 350SL represents the very beginning for the R107, painted in a rare hue of Reed Green with matching hubcaps, complimenting the early, slim bumper look quite nicely.

Feature Listing: 2011 BMW 328i

Living in a fairly wealthy, urban area, the BMW 3 series seems as ubiquitous as a Toyota Camry. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. These compact BMWs are certainly capable of cars, but as a former E30 owner, the new ones fail to relight my fire, lest I steal a line from one of my favorite Dan Hartman songs from the late 1970s. This 2011 328i Coupe for sale from our friends at Euro Automotion has me doing a double take, however. Sure, it’s saddled with the 6-speed automatic, but considering the mileage and condition, this is a quite affordable option to a well-optioned, brand new subcompact.

1991 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.6

For me, the 190E almost defines the perfect Mercedes-Benz. I’m not a fan of huge cars, so the W201 certainly works on a size basis for me but still embodies all the great things I loved about this brand from the past, including timeless design, solidity and dependability. This 1991 190E 2.6 for sale in South Carolina has the tasty combination of the inline-6 paired to the seldom seen 5-speed manual gearbox. The rare shade of Bornit Metallic makes this baby Benz all the more attractive.
