1986 Ruf BTR Cabriolet

A Ruf built 930 hardly needs much introduction on these pages. Ruf produced the BTR, a modified 911 based on the Porsche 930, as both a Coupe and a Cabriolet with each of those variants also coming along with the even more rare Slantnose option. The already potent turbocharged engine of the 930 was coaxed to deliver 374 hp to the rear wheels, making an already very quick and lively car into one of the best performing cars of its day. While the BTR is neither as well known nor as powerful as the famous CTR Yellowbird that was produced around the same time, it remains a highly sought after vehicle from one of the automotive-tuning world’s most respected brands. The car we see here is a 1986 Ruf BTR Cabriolet located in Colorado with just over 31,000 miles.

1988 Porsche 928 S4

As the weather turns colder and as I think about my holiday travel plans, my mind inevitably begins to wander and I begin to think about the prospects of a GT car. I don’t have a commute where such a car would make sense but for those that do (or those who simply want a better way to travel) a GT makes such a compelling case as a consideration for space in any enthusiast’s garage. The Porsche 928 remains a favorite of ours here at GCFSB. With styling that barely appears to have aged, especially considering that the style of the model itself changed little from its 1977 debut, the 928 is a car that remains fresh even now and since the market has been slow to embrace these cars, a good example can still be had at a fairly reasonable cost. Here we have an excellent looking 1988 Porsche 928 S4 located in Missouri. With more than 300 hp coming from the 5.0 liter V8 these cars offered nice performance in an attractive package. As an added plus, this particular 928 S4 comes with a 5-speed manual transmission.

2001 Porsche 911 Turbo

As many are aware, Porsche values have gone a bit crazy over the past few years, especially for classic 911s but also for many variants of the 964 and 993. Pretty much any air-cooled example remains a strong investment, assuming the owner has shown it proper care over its life. There is, however, still value to be had with the 911 as I have featured with a couple examples of the 996TT. If you all will indulge me a bit my aim is to gain a better understanding of the market for these cars so I hope to feature a few more. The negatives of the 996 relative to its predecessors are well known and I won’t rehearse them here, though given that many of those negatives are largely subjective, many buyers may find that the 996 makes for an amazing car. All of which brings us to the car featured here, an Orient Red 2001 Porsche 911 Turbo located in Indianapolis.
