I hope you like gold.

This is a 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo finished in paint to sample Opal Metallic with matching wheel centers over a Cashmere and Mocha leather interior. I don’t know what more to really say about it. It is a unorthodox combination that probably no one would order today, but then again we do have people paying $13,000 to paint their GT3 in Ivory. Still, I think we can appreciate this car for what is it and admire from a far. Because that is exactly what I’m going to do after seeing the price.

2008 Porsche Boxster Limited Edition

2008 Porsche Boxster Limited Edition

I read a stat recently that 78.5% of the cars sold in the US today are finished in a grayscale color. On top of that, blue was next at 9.5% while red followed up with 8.6%. That isn’t a lot of room for the wild colors. Thankfully, Porsche is saving the day with these wild color combos and the endless list of paint-to-sample selections. Even better, Porsche offers these crazy colors as dealer stock. Today, we roll the clock back 15 years to the 2008 Boxster Limited Edition. 500 examples were produced, 250 each for the Boxster and Boxster S. All of them were finished in “Orange”, which was the same “Orange” on the 2008 911 GT3 RS. Even crazier, they sprinkled some of that extra orange paint on the trim too. Do you want to stick out? 2022 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupe

Two weeks ago I took a look at the base 992 Porsche 911 Carrera, which is akin to being the dumbest student at Oxford – outstanding performance in the grand scheme of things, but lowest on the totem pole within the group of peers. Today, I wanted to go a little higher on the 911 food chain with the upscale GTS. To me, the GTS was the best compromise if you really didn’t need a GT3 or the harsh ride it comes with but still wanted an extra bump in power over the S. Today’s example, a Carrera 4 GTS, comes to us finished in the wild color of Python Green. However, much like GT3s, don’t expect a deal.

Will the madness ever stop? Looking at today’s car, maybe not.

This is a 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo S. The “king of the hill” 993 Turbo and one of the most desirable air-cooled Porsches ever made. Just 345 examples were produced and only 182 of them were imported to the US. As you might have guessed, most were driven sparingly. A few thousand miles a year at most and then once prices started climbing, the miles started decreasing. However, this is one example that didn’t even hit that few thousand miles. This example comes in with the number 1,779 shown on the odometer. That’s it. Also, it has a totally crazy leather-to-sample Boxster Red interior. Brace yourself for this price.

2016 Porsche 911 Turbo S

I personally regard the 991 generation Porsche 911 Turbo as the “cheat code” of the automotive world. Especially the Turbo S. It’s one thing to have a car do 0-60 runs in 2.6 seconds. It’s a whole other thing to have a car do 0-60 runs in 2.6 seconds and be totally comfortable doing so while being able to drive it 365 days a year. Not to mention it be reasonably reliable and won’t kill you in service costs. Where do I sign?
