2022 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupe

Two weeks ago I took a look at the base 992 Porsche 911 Carrera, which is akin to being the dumbest student at Oxford – outstanding performance in the grand scheme of things, but lowest on the totem pole within the group of peers. Today, I wanted to go a little higher on the 911 food chain with the upscale GTS. To me, the GTS was the best compromise if you really didn’t need a GT3 or the harsh ride it comes with but still wanted an extra bump in power over the S. Today’s example, a Carrera 4 GTS, comes to us finished in the wild color of Python Green. However, much like GT3s, don’t expect a deal.

The 992 GTS is hypercar levels of speed with some independent testers throwing down 0-60 numbers of 2.9 seconds with a good launch. That still blows my mind. On this example, I know lots of people are hot and cold on bright green, but I dig it. I also like the subtle touches like Lizard Green seatbelts and the Lizard Green accents on the tach and chrono. Throw in another $25,000 worth of options and you are at a sticker of $170,000. Unfortunately, this is nowhere near the asking price.

One year and 3,400 miles from new, this one comes with an ask of $214,992. Wow. A $45,000 markup on a GTS is a tough bill to swallow seeing as you can buy a 922 GT2 for just a handful of dollars more. This one has been for sale for a few months now and I’m guessing it has to do with this price. Don’t get me wrong, a wonderful and amazing car, but not at this price. I’m sure there is a dealer out there willing to take much less for your business.

We are now in the 4th year of the post-COVID world. It boggles my mind that Porsche can’t get production levels back up to normal levels at this point. They are missing out on an insane amount of profit and letting all these flippers make out like bandits.

I’ve been hoping for a swift and harsh price correction since 2021, but I’m not sure we’ll ever see automakers producing enough supply to satisfy demand ever again.

Very nice spec but $170K sticker ! At this price point I wonder they just didn’t spend the extra $12K and get a real PTS spec….that’s what I would do..and spec it with the non-center lock wheels

What is the “Not For Sale” stamp on the Monroney all about?

I recall reading a thread on rennlist I think some of the early model year cars were held up coz of some EPA ratings not being available or something….maybe it’s that ?
