The shining Tornado Red 1987 4000CS quattro I took a look at back in early February has appeared on eBay this week. The seller has not changed the price – $4,750 – from the earlier advertisement, but has added some more information including maintenance and modifications. Unfortunately, those disclosures also include that the car was totaled at one point. Previously the owner had stated it was simply repainted – not unusual for the single-stage red from Volkswagen/Audi if it was not maintained. While this car looks pretty nice, do you think the branded title hurts the value or does it simply not matter on this old warhorse?

Last month’s unrestored Green Metallic 1970 Porsche 911E targa is back up for auction after, I assume, the previous winning bidder failed to meet the seller’s payment terms. The previous auction was bid to $75,100 and had met the seller’s reserve so that should give us an idea of what we can expect here. For anyone who may have had an eye on this 911 and missed out the first time around, you’ll now get a second chance.

“This is not the greatest E28 in the world, no –
This is just a tribute.”
Yet again, the “Manofied Racing” Alpina tribute – a well thought-out and thorough interpretation – is back on eBay. It popped up twice a couple of years ago, a few months apart, but obviously had no bites at $32,500. Two years on it has received a respray but lost its Alpina stripes on everything but the front and rear flight decks. Despite the impressive boom in the ’80s BMW market, this one apparently didn’t get to set whatever price the seller deemed more than generous. It’s down to $25k now, but I’m guessing a low-$20ks offer might get a serious discussion started.

Comments closedThe 1995 Porsche 928GTS 5-speed manual we featured at the end of last year is back up for sale, with but a few hundred miles more on the clock and the window tint removed. With another 928GTS bringing big money at Amelia Island last week, where do you think this car will head in terms of value?
