Perhaps its nostalgia or living out a dream never fulfilled, but as time marches on, I want to find a way to get into a mint condition W126 S class. An icon of the 1980s, this is a car that is still revered for its balance of classic and modern styling with durability and luxury buyers had come to expect from Mercedes-Benz up to that point. This Midnight Blue 300SEL for sale in New Jersey has to be one of the lowest mileage examples of any W126 I’ve seen in the past few years of writing for GCFSB.
German Cars For Sale Blog Posts
We’ve been known to feature the errant Swedish ride here at GCFSB, especially when it comes to the faster hardware. News came down at the beginning of the month that Saab was restarting production two years after declaring bankruptcy. While the new cars will be a continuation of the 9-3 model, now is a good time to reflect back on models past.
The 1990s were an interesting time for Saab, as General Motors took a 50% controlling interest in the company and a new 900 arrived in 1994, based on Opel Vectra underpinnings. The 9000 model, launched in 1984, shared its platform with the Alfa Romeo 164, Lancia Thema and Fiat Croma. The model carried on through 1997, with the Aero model featured here being released in 1993. This was the most powerful Saab to date, with a 2.3 liter, turbocharged inline-4 producing 225 horsepower. This Aero for sale in Pennsylvania is one of the rare Cirrus White examples. Just over 100 left the factory between 1993 and 1997.

3 CommentsAlmost exactly one month ago I took a look at a pristine midnight blue 850CSi with a seemingly low 70,000 miles on the clock. I was reminded of how great the 850 looked in its ultimate form, a super cruiser in the grandest sense. Today there is another of these super GTs for sale on Ebay, and this one might take the cake for lowest mile example I’ve seen in a long, long time – this particular example has only covered a claimed 16,450 miles. I’m not sure why or how you buy such a car and drive it so little, but let’s take a look:

13 CommentsIn the realm of overlooked Audis, the 2.7T A6 has to rank fairly high. It falls squarely off the radar of most enthusiasts, who focus on models like the S4, RS6 and S8 variants, or the V8 A6 and Allroad A6 variants. But ranking fairly high on the list of best sports sedans of the early 2000s list should be the 2.7T 6-speed – a S4 in a business suit. A few months bank I wrote up a A6 2.7T 6-Speed that reminded me of how great these cars are, yet how unappreciated they are by the general public. With a drivetrain capable of 300,000 miles plus, great tunability and a slick 6-speed gearbox, these are some of the last manual large sedans that Audi imported to these shores. Take a look at this lower mile Silver-blue example from the same seller as the earlier car:

2 CommentsIt’s a dilemma that hits every car enthusiast at least once or twice in a lifetime: how much is good enough? Whether it’s a restoration project or improving our everyday driver, we’re always looking for ways to improve our rides. This 1987 Porsche 911 in rare Lemongelb (Lemon Yellow), was featured in the February 2009 issue of Excellence Magazine and features a slew of modifications to give this 911 a proper balance between street and track use.
