1994 Porsche 968

The Porsche 911 could be described as the eternal sports car. It has a style all its own that has lasted for over fifty years, albeit with some refinements along the way. The Porsche 968, however, looks like it could have been designed yesterday. I never stop thinking about what the Porsche 928 and 968 might have turned into, had Porsche continued on with their transaxle greats which exited stage left in 1995. These are cars that deserved a second life and had plenty of fans, to which the folks over at flüssig magazine can attest. This 1994 968 for sale in Florida was originally sold by Brumos Porsche and has covered just over 80,000 miles.

1994 Porsche 928GTS – REVISIT

$_4 (1)

The 1994 Porsche 928GTS that Andy from flüssig magazine featured back in January is back up for sale, with a Buy It Now of $75,000. The 928GTS is the ultimate expression of Porsche’s long lived GT car, and with the 5-speed manual gearbox it makes it all the more desirable as a collector vehicle.

1994 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Widebody Coupe

For the 964’s final model year Porsche gave us a few interesting new variants from which to choose. One of those was looking both forward and backward, drawing upon previous models and hinting at models that would come later. The car in question, which we see here, was the 1994 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Widebody Coupe. While the Carrera 4 itself first was introduced upon the 964’s debut, it originally came in the narrow-bodied design that was standard to any naturally-aspirated 964. Porsche, who had long produced wide-bodied 911s, had a few lingering Turbo chassis available and for the ’94 model year used those to produce a limited edition Turbo Look Carrera 4. The Turbo Look wasn’t a new idea as the 3.2 Carrera had provided a similar design through the M491 option package, and future 911 models would share the similar layout of the 964 Widebody under the guise of the Carrera 4S. These 964s are almost like an experiment taking previous ideas and trying them out in ways that would signal future directions. They aren’t the quickest 964s out there, but their look has garnered them quite an affectionate following among 911 fans.

1994 Mercedes-Benz E500

It’s no coincidence that two of my favorite German performance cars emerged from the same factory. Both were blessed by the engineers at Porsche, even though neither of them wore the famous Stuttgart crest. One of these cars was the Audi RS2 Avant, which wasn’t sold on US shores. Shortly before production of this super estate commenced at Zuffenhausen, production was ending of another supercar in disguise, the Mercedes-Benz E500. Formerly known as the 500E before Mercedes’ nomenclature switchover in 1994, this sedan pushed the limits of what people thought was possible with a luxury sedan. I haven’t driven one in many years, but I can still remember slipping behind the wheel of this beast and being blown away. This 1994 E500 for sale in California represents the end of the production run for this special E-class. This one has covered a fair amount of miles but from the looks of it, could easily pass for half its age.

1994 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 – REVISIT

FB8adHzr1YjuwGmG0sHs6dqkHtZ1f4c6UyZ3pv1IPew

The Polar Silver 911 Turbo 3.6 we featured back in March is up for sale another reserve auction. Bidding sits at $175,500, which is right around where it was bid to on its last reserve auction. The reserve remains unmet so we’ll have to see if either the seller will lower his reserve or if another buyer is willing to pony up to steep asking price being sought here.
