1994 Porsche 911 RS America – REVISIT

13004615_5

The Midnight Blue 1994 Porsche 911 RS America we featured in early March is back up for sale and again looks to be struggling to garner sufficient attention to meet the seller’s asking price. With one of the rarer color choices available on these cars and pretty reasonable mileage we’ll have to see if this one can finally find the right buyer.

1994 Porsche 911 Speedster – REVISIT

$_57 (14)

The very rare Polar Silver 1994 Porsche 911 Speedster we featured back in early April is back up for sale. The price has been reduced by $10K, but at $225,000 it’s still quite high. With only 5 examples produced in this color will someone be willing to take the plunge?

1994 Porsche 968 Sport

It’s not uncommon for automotive manufacturers to tailor a particular model to the likes and needs of a certain market. Porsche is well known for this; one example being the 911 RS America of the early 1990s. Deemed a bit too hard edged for US consumers, Porsche decided to soften the Carrera RS formula a bit and make a special run of 701 cars, which were initially cheaper than a 911 C2. Given their rarity, these RS Americas are now worth much more than their standard Carrera counterparts. Around the same time, Porsche was focusing on another lightweight special, the 968 Club Sport. Unfortunately, the 968CS never made it stateside, but Porsche produced a special run of similar models for the UK market, dubbed the “Sport.” These were essentially 968CS models with the CS luxury package, which offered a bit more features and convenience than the track focused CS. This 1994 968 Sport for sale in southwest England has very low mileage for its age.

1994 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6

Yesterday we looked at a standard 964 Turbo and we will now turn our attention to the next step in the Turbo’s evolution: the Turbo 3.6. This is the car the 964 Turbo was intended to be from the start and as such they attract a significant amount of attention from collectors and 964 enthusiasts in general. We see this increased attention reflected in the significant premium these cars command over the 3.3 liter 964 Turbo. In fact, the asking price here is a little more than two times that of the 3.3 liter version seen yesterday. These aren’t the cars one should turn to when in search of performance value, but their demand on the collector market seems fairly secure. The Turbo 3.6, along with its even rarer sibling the 3.6 Turbo S, is the last of the brawny, hairy-chested, single-turbo, rear-drive, air-cooled 911 Turbos produced so their historical relevance for the marque is quite significant. The example we see here is a beautiful Amazon Green Metallic 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 with Cashmere leather interior and just 38,000 miles on it.

1994 Porsche 911 Speedster

What happens when a rare color doesn’t seem so rare? Or at least it isn’t a color that we would expect to be very rare. That is the peculiar situation in which we find this Polar Silver 1994 Porsche 911 Speedster, located in Miami. These days coming across a Silver Porsche or Mercedes is a daily occurrence, but the presence of the color wasn’t always so ubiquitous. Still, it is difficult to think of Silver as possessing a degree of rarity, even if it is a particular shade of Silver, in this case Polar Silver which does have a lot of fans, but that appears to be exactly the case with the 1994 911 Speedster. With a purported 5 produced in total in this color that makes this a rare find of an already rare production vehicle. The question, of course, is how much does the market care? Really striking rare colors, especially pastel colors, tend to command a premium all else being equal, but can Polar Silver see the same results? The auction of this car should help us in that regard.
