In an era when SUVs are the order of the day for manufacturers looking to expand profitability, it’s says something that Mercedes-Benz still sees fit to import the estate versions of the E class, in both E350 and E63 trim. There are still those of us out there who merely seek carrying capability without all the off-road fuss. This E320 Estate for sale in Florida is a great example of a car that gives you SUV carrying capability with the comfort and economy of a sedan.

The mid-1990s were a turning point for Mercedes-Benz. Not only was there a change in model nomenclature, but more daring styling began to take hold and a wealth of new models, such as the SLK, CLK and ML class began to appear. The E class Cabriolet was the first four-seater convertible in Mercedes’ lineup since the demise of the 280SE in 1972. While thoroughly modern underneath, this was one of the final holdouts of 1980s design, barring the G-wagen, in the company’s lineup. Today, the W124 Cabriolet is the most highly prized E class of the time, alongside the high-performance 500E/E500. It may be in the middle of winter from where you are reading this, but now may be a great time to pick up a drop-top E class.

Comments closedWe’ve been known to feature the errant Swedish ride here at GCFSB, especially when it comes to the faster hardware. News came down at the beginning of the month that Saab was restarting production two years after declaring bankruptcy. While the new cars will be a continuation of the 9-3 model, now is a good time to reflect back on models past.
The 1990s were an interesting time for Saab, as General Motors took a 50% controlling interest in the company and a new 900 arrived in 1994, based on Opel Vectra underpinnings. The 9000 model, launched in 1984, shared its platform with the Alfa Romeo 164, Lancia Thema and Fiat Croma. The model carried on through 1997, with the Aero model featured here being released in 1993. This was the most powerful Saab to date, with a 2.3 liter, turbocharged inline-4 producing 225 horsepower. This Aero for sale in Pennsylvania is one of the rare Cirrus White examples. Just over 100 left the factory between 1993 and 1997.

3 CommentsI’m a sucker for oddball cars. Be it a rare color, prototype or oddity that might have not lit up the sales charts, you’ve got me hooked. Today, we’ll take a look at something that few in the US knew was an option for 1994 over at Mercedes-Benz: a manual transmission W140 S class. Yes, a few of these exist out there, but not many. The 5-speed manual was relegated to the entry level six-cylinder models in the range, such as this S280. It’s fairly common knowledge that the entry level S class in the US, the S320, with its slightly larger six cylinder engine wasn’t one to light up the quarter mile. But with the row-your-own option in this S280 for sale in Italy, at least it allows you to make the most of what you’ve got.
