This has been one tough winter for a lot of us. A part of me thinks “my, it would be nice to have four-wheel drive.†However, I just can’t bring myself to consider an SUV. Unless, of course, it’s a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen or Land Rover Defender. But for the world I live in at the moment, a truck would be a bit too much. The Audi S6 we highlighted last week got me thinking. If I go back far enough, I can find some interesting performance machines that offer all-season capability. Case in point this 1988 BMW 325ix for sale from our friends at Evolve Motors in Chicago. All-wheel drive BMWs seem commonplace today, but there were few takers for BMWs first crack at a car driving all four wheels.

Wagons. We love them here at GCFSB and with each passing year, a few more models become available to US customers that weren’t sold in this market originally. This 325i Touring is prime in the crosshairs of vintage Bimmer enthusiasts and a few have made their way over to these shores already. This Lachsilber 325i Touring with BBS basketweaves has been recently imported and is ready to be picked up by its next owner down in sunny Florida.

1 CommentIf you look hard enough, it’s amazing sometime what you can find. Take, for example, today’s E30 convertible that’s been modified with both the body pieces from an E30 M3 and the engine from an E36 M3. In the “best of both worlds” scenario, this isn’t a bad option – but to find it, you had to have a little faith. Personally, I was interested in both the widebody AMG SEC and the modified E24 6 that were in the ad’s cover photo, so I sought more information. What was inside is what seems to be a well built and very presentable box-flared E30 convertible with some serious motivation:

4 CommentsPerfect, unmolested E30s are a thing of beauty for so many reasons. The few around here are driven by old folks, and I think about them lovingly enjoying the quintessential sports sedan they bought over 2 decades ago. Today’s is of the refreshingly clean and original variety, living with the same owner in Arizona since it was bought. In that time, he hasn’t quite covered 100k miles and has clearly doted upon this creampuff inside and out – check out the smashing AutoCheck score. Sure, E30s are great for Lemons, but they’re also great for just about everything – that’s why they have become the legend they are today. If you’re looking for an almost-new, pleasantly normal copy, watch this no-reserve auction and hope it stays reasonable!

8 CommentsIt takes a bit for me to be interested in writing up E30 M3s. Maybe it’s the popularity, or the expensive-and-rising values, but the topic seems a bit overcooked these days. Today’s is an interesting package though, matching the common S52 swap with the E46’s 6-speed manual, all wrapped in a very clean and stock body with a cleanly redone interior. Pretty complete for those who don’t care about the technicalities of being all-original but love ///M with a passion. This is about the most attractive modified E30 M3 I’ve seen in a while, and it’s price is accordingly ridiculous.
