Want a way to show up every other Instagram or YouTube hero that bought a Porsche GT car and posted a video about it? It’s gotta be one of the paint-to-sample or wild colors offered by the company, then. And is there a more wild color than Ruby Star Neo? I’m sure there might be, but every single time it catches my eye. The searing looks match the equally outrageous performance on tap from the GT4 RS; the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six makes a peak 493 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque, good enough to pull down 0-60 runs in 2.8 seconds. While the RS starts at 160k today, the total quickly adds up with options, including the paint (a bargain at only $3,500), the $15k forged magnesium wheels, the $13k Weissach Package…well, you get the point. On top of that, these special-order GTs tend to hit the market higher than their MSRPs. The result? This is no budget Cayman:

Oh Ruby Star – a color that would draw attention at a clown convention. Some look at it and say it’s a lighter shade of red, while others will tell you it is straight up pink. To me it sure seems to brush right up against pink, but others will disagree. Personally, I love that this color exists and applaud Porsche for keeping it in the paint gun over all these generations of cars. Today, we have one of the hottest new Porsches, the 718 Spyder, sprayed in this very expensive paint-to-sample color. Although, I’m not sure I love it on this body. Let’s take a look:

6 CommentsYou know why we’re here. This 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring is finished in Paint-to-Sample Ruby Star. Made popular on the 964, this wild color now has a home on the 991 and boy does it pop. The GT3 Touring is already a wildly popular car that is still selling for over sticker with a handful of miles on them, and adding a Paint-to-Sample color like this only piles on the price. The sky was basically the limit on custom options for highly preferred customers to the point where a you could order a GT3 Touring for around $140,000 and then literally add another $140,000 in options. Seriously, someone did that. Thankfully, that isn’t the case with this car but you are still going to pay over sticker for it despite having nearly 1,000 on the odometer. How much?
