Very unusual import procedure made these cars road legal. All 45 were intended for a race series that never got off the ground. They were modified by Andial to compete in the race series, but when the series went bust, they were converted back to road cars, which were U.S. legal, and sold.
Basically a U.S. legal version of the 1992 964 RS, plus some factory modifications for racing, minus some of the trick bits that made the RS a great road car.
Crazy 964 fanatics like myself put a ridiculous value on these cars due to their story and rarity.

Oh how I love the 964 series Porsche 911’s! Here is a great looking example with only 88k miles on the clock and an asking of only $17800 on Craigslist:

In a brief chat with my buddy Paul from Sports Car Shop, my personal Porsche expert and close friend, his first word were, “when are we headed down to buy this car?!” As you can tell, he agrees it looks like it’s worth a look!
This two owner E30 M3 has been in our stable for a year while we have been perfecting it cosmetically and mechanically as a side project. This car is approaching true Concours show winning condition now, as we started with an extremely well taken care of example that had been driven easily by its two female owners, and it shows in how it looks and how it drives. I recently did a touring rally in this car and it was just a joy to drive and enjoy. We updated this car with its major Inspection II service and went over it with a fine toothed comb. We then cosmetically restored it with some PDR and minor touch-up, and a whole list of odds and ends. The result is a very close to 100% factory original and is also a model from the last year of production for the E30 M3, It has all the original VIN stickers and aside from a new front bumper cover and some hood paint in 1991 it is as it left Germany.
Quite honestly, if this car was any nicer I’m not sure you would want to drive it, and that would be a shame.
You know me, I’m a sucker for low miles. Make sure the maintenance has been tended to with a thorough pre-purchase inspection by a qualified BMW technician. This car is already over $17k, reserve not met. With 3 days to go, make your predictions!

Not to play that overused ‘economy’ angle yet again, but these seem like high prices to me in today’s market. On the other hand the owners clearly know the rarity of their cars and are counting on educated and wealthy buyers. Who knows when we’ll see examples like these for sale again.
1991 911C2, Grand Prix White with Black leather interior. 97500 miles, all maintenance records. Recent brakes, new rear tires Goodyear Eagle F1 DG’s. Power windows, locks and sunroof. Cruise and AC in perfect working order. Seats are partial power seats (meaning only the bottom is powered). It has a Kenwood CD player and 10 disc changer. The head unit blends in nicely with the interior (I hate the bright shiny blinky silver ones that don’t look like they belong in a 90’s Porsche). The Exterior is in very good shape. Paint is shiny and in excellent condition. The interior is in excellent condition as well. No cracks in the dash and the seats look fantastic. The car has never been on the track. I have the complete maintenance history of the car and I carfaxed it before I bought it in August of 2005. I had it inspected by the shop I’ve used for the last 5 years, they said it was one of the cleanest 964’s they’ve seen come through. It has no issues. They have taken care of a couple external oil leaks, the last being the return line from the oil cooler up front in the nose. The brakes were done recently, along with a synthetic oil change. AC was recharged last summer. For the blemishes…it has a little scrape on the left side of the rear bumper. Not sure how it will show in the pictures, it’s half the size of a dime. There is a rock chip in the right head light. And on the way home from work last week, I picked up rock chip to the windshield. If I don’t get it fixed before selling I’ll take $500 off the selling price. I’ll be trying to get it done next week though. It has been a great car! A lot of fun, it’ll still get 25 or 26mpg on the highway cruising at 80. We’ve taken some fun road trips in it. I’m selling it because I’ll be deploying to Afghanistan for a year and I don’t want it to sit for a year.
I’m having a tough time trying to decide between a Boxster and a 964. My thinking lately is that there are far more Boxsters than 964’s, and that 964 prices might be more stable over the next couple years as a result. Thoughts? Leave a comment!
I took most of the weekend off from blogging (and everything else technology in nature) to enjoy the 75 degree weather we got this weekend in the Willamette Valley. I apologize for the lack of posting and I offer these wallpapers in return. They were created from an old image I took of my previously owned Alpine White 1995 BMW e36 M3.
I am the third owner of this vehicle and it has been garaged ever since it left the dealership in 84′. The car was originally purchased here in California and hasn’t left since. No rust on the car. Meticulously serviced with the timing belt and engine mounts changed at 60,000 miles. The car is completely stock except for the BBS wheels with new tires, Bilstein suspension kit , Zender side skirts, Alpine tape deck, new exhaust system and upper & lower strut bars. I will include in this auction the original wheels with still good tires on them and an extra OEM GTI grille. This car is a 9 out of 10 inside and out. The interior is stock in blue cloth with a brand new headliner and all new weather stripping. The pictures should speak for them self. The car just passed smog and is in excellent running condition.
Note he states the car has been garaged it’s whole life and only has 77k miles. I’d have to guess that 90% of the MK1 GTi’s in the world wished they had such a charmed life! The white exterior with black accents and those great looking MK2 GTi BBS rims really make this car look sharp. My only ding would be the nasty blue, American spec interior — But it is clean and tidy.
$6750 sounds a little optimistic, but those rims are probably worth at least $1500. Taking that equity into consideration, I’ll be curious to watch where this car ends up.

Purchased last Spring (2007) in near-stock condition from a local, certified BMW mechanic. 117,xxx miles (I’m driving it a few miles per week.) I own it outright, no loans nor liens. For those who seem to need to know: I’m well into my 40’s–not a kid racer.
No known accidents, no rust, and the VIN numbers all match (body to the fender panels).
– Details on the Wheels: Staggered widths front to back: the much coveted standalone versions of the E28/E34 BMW M5 and E30 BMW M3 Evo wheels. 16×7.5 front and 16×8.5 rear! They have the distinctive flat lip of the Evo M3 and M5 wheels—with the polished finish, they look perfect on this car.
Those wheels do look really perfect on the car, though I would’ve had them detailed before shooting the pics!

The gap between average-to-good condition 944 Turbo’s and pristine-and-maintained examples is about a mile wide. I’ve listed the prior a few times, but once in a while, one of the latter comes out from hiding. And judging from the seller’s $15k asking, it appears he knows what he has.
This is one of the cleanest 944’s I could find. The car is Alpine white with black leather interior. I am the third owner. I bought it from the mechanic of the original owner. The car was purchased at Carlsen Porsche in Palo Alto. The car has only 74k miles on it. The mechanic who I bought it from kept it in impecable condition. You can find many other cars for a lot cheaper but you will end up spending the money on them over time. This car is ready to drive and you will not need to worry about issues. I have the certificate of authenticity from Porsche. Options listed as: cruise control, leather seats, electric sliding roof, cd player with radio, amplifier system, emissions control – California, special model 944 turbo. production date 6/10/1988 MSRP $46224.00
The Turbo is a fast car anyway, but the S ups the ante with a bigger turbo, bigger brakes, standard limited slip differential, and market exclusivity. And I’m a sucker for white on black.
