While I seldom remove the top on my convertible to enjoy some open top motoring I do occasionally yearn for those days. My favorite time of year for doing so has always been in the Fall. Living in one of the more humid parts of the country, Fall weather brings with it a welcome crispness and obviously the array of colors on display just above you in the trees makes even the dullest of roads much more enjoyable. Combine a good road with that crisp air and the fall colors and you have some of the best driving you can find.
The only way to really increase the greatness of that natural beauty is to enjoy it in a car that is equally as beautiful. Here we see just that: a Ruby Red 1963 Porsche 356C Cabriolet, located in New York, with Tan interior and a stated 21,804 miles on it. Just thinking about it makes me want to grab the keys and head out to the mountains for some driving.

1963 Porsche 356 C Cabriolet finished in Ruby Red with Tan Leather and a Tan canvas Soft Top. This matching numbers 356 C Cabriolet has been in the same ownership for over 20 years. It belonged to a client of ours who took exceptional care of it while in his stewardship.
It was restored years ago by noted and well respected Porsche specialists, Paterek Brothers Inc. of Chatham NJ. While the restoration was done over 20 years ago, the car still shows extremely well and runs strong with no immediate needs.
The leather interior is supple with no damage, the canvas soft top is unblemished and the rear window is crystal clear. The chrome wheels are in excellent condition with the exception of the spare that shows it’s age. New Vreedstein tires have been fitted.
The car starts right up and shifts smoothly through the gears. The original color combination of Ruby Red with Tan suits the car well. There is a complete tool kit and jack as well as the original books and service booklet documentation the matching numbers, delivery date and colors. Options include a chrome trimmed horn ring, chrome wheels, four wheels disc brakes, Coco mats and an original period correct Blaupunkt AM/FM radio.
This is an exceptional good driver that is ready to be enjoyed or driven on it’s next rally.

Like with many ads I see for the 356 I always wonder about the stated mileage and what it actually means. Given that sellers sometimes report it as the mileage since restoration or other times as what the odometer shows, even if the odometer has rolled over, it’s not always clear what we’re being told. I’d guess here it’s a rolled over odometer, but I could be wrong. Hopefully its service documentation can clarify things in that regard.
Mileage numbers aside, this is a great looking 356 Cabriolet. It’s said to have been restored over 20 years ago and under current ownership for over 20 years. Regardless of whether its current owner undertook that restoration we certainly can see that it has been well cared for during this time. The seats shows a subtle patina, the coco mats provide nice contrast, and as always the painted dash looks excellent. Everything about this car looks clean and correct. The asking price is very high and I’m not sure it’s likely to be reached – as evidenced by the current lack of bids – but this is a fine example and certainly worth a good deal.
