We have talked a bit in these pages about the relative value of the mid-year 911. Even while values have increased over the past year that value judgement still remains. These are still much cheaper than the long-hood 911 and in some cases can even be had for less than the model that followed, the 911SC. The model we see here, however, is somewhat of an exception to the rule, though it still comes in below the long-hood models that were its predecessor. Here we have a Grand Prix White 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 Coupe, located in California. While these resemble the highly sought after European Carrera 2.7 MFI Coupe they are not the same mechanically, with the MFI boasting more power and lighter weight. But those come at three times the price.

This is a California car for serious enthusiasts or collectors. RUST FREE, classic 25 year anniversary edition Porsche (i.e. the personalized plate.) The car is sound in every way. The body is perfect, the engine fires up first time and runs smoothly. For those interested, it has tremendous pulling power. When it was determined to show the car (winner at Moneterey, and others) the car was completely stripped to bare metal. The undercarriage is completely sealed and protected. The details of the rebuild are too numerous to mention here, but complete photos of every detail of restoration will be included to the new owner.
The Carrera was always the best of the 911’s that Porsche produced. It was also the vehicle that Dr. Porsche was most proud of. This particular car is an outstanding example of the ingenuity and beauty of the product line. This is a car you will be very proud to own – make sure you do not pass it by, as it will sell since the reserve has been set at a very low price for a vehicle of this quality.
Included with the car are four extra original wheels and tires which I have used for show purposes. They are perfect, in boxes, and have no dings/scratches, etc. Their collector value alone is in excess of $5K. Also, the original owners manual and tool kit is included with purchase. For fun, a copy of the 1974 Road & Track magazine which featured the anniversary edition 911’s is also included.
I apologize for the pictures, I now see I am not the photographer I thought – the car is far superior to the photos!
The seller has an amusing comment about his photographic skills at the end of the ad and it’s certainly the case that many of the pictures aren’t really in frame and highlighting the car as they should. Still we can see the overall quality of the car, especially in the interior, and the condition looks very good. A point proven by the current bidding of $67,000 already meeting the seller’s reserve. There even seems to be a reasonable degree of value to be found here as these mid-year Carreras are beginning to appreciate nicely so I’d imagine the new owner is going to be very happy.
