1981 Porsche 911SC Coupe

I’ve been sitting on this 911 for a little while and just never gotten around to posting it. There are some reasons for that, which we’ll get to below, but none the less this remains an interesting 911 and worthy of our consideration. Modified 911s always require a higher level of wariness, though in many ways assessing the mechanical condition of the car remains the same as that of any car of this age. Here we have a Rosewood Metallic 1981 Porsche 911SC Coupe, located in Connecticut, with 87,000 miles on it and some very nicely contrasted Gold Fuchs wheels. The colors are said to be original. The engine, however, has been rebuilt to higher spec and the interior lightened. Altogether this could make for a really fun 911 if it’s at the right price.

About the price: for a 911SC nearly $50K is asking a lot, especially for an example that isn’t wholly original. And while I’m sure the seller can remedy this, we aren’t offered much in the way of pictures, especially of the interior. So I’m not exactly sure what is meant by “new lightweight interior.” Naturally, that sort of issue can be solved with a phone call, but I do wonder if many will pass by this 911 because of the price when we lack the necessary information to really draw us in. We need more investigation, but for someone willing to put in that work there could be a good deal to like here. I do think the price will have to come down, regardless of how much was recently invested in the car, but it’s a very pretty period-correct combination that should have an enhanced sporty persona. As a “driver” that’s a great combination.
