1983 Porsche 911SC

I have written previously about how the 911SC represents excellent value in the 911 market. For buyers interested in a classically-styled 911, these cars provide a good mix of performance and styling but without the prices that a long-hood 911 will command. However, the market for these cars appears to be at the onset of a rise and while the value is still there, I do wonder for how much longer that will be true. Nonetheless, I remain partial to the SC and even today they are a head turner whenever I see one on the streets. The car featured here is a very pretty 1983 Guards Red Porsche 911SC with Black leather interior located in New Jersey. In 1983 the SC featured a 3.0 liter flat-six producing 180 hp that was mated to the 5-speed 915 transmission.

The difficult decision when looking at a 1983 model certainly must be whether it’s worthwhile to look for a 3.2 Carrera instead. You get a little more power with the same classic 911 styling and it’ll only set you back a few grand more. It’s difficult to go wrong with a well-sorted example of either version. The car here presents well both inside and out and the seller claims to have “many” service records. Bidding has been strong so far and stands at $17,011 with the reserve still on. That should come up a little as Guards Red almost always seems to attract more action. Assuming this doesn’t go too much above $20,000 then I think we’d be looking at a pretty good value.
