1987 BMW M6

As cool as I think the sharknose E24 M6 is, it never quite grabbed ahold of me the way the E28 M5 does (hence my purchase of the latter). Despite sharing the heavenly S38B35, something about the way most E24s sit comes across just a little too soft, more Lexus SC400 than Ferrari 550. Well, today’s beautiful red M6 changes all that with a lower stance and beautiful – if very 80s – gold BBS 3-piece wheels. Something about the red, chrome, and black bits seem to all come together perfectly on this car, pulling me in like no E24 before it.

1988 BMW E24 M6 Tastefully Modded

Very Rare “Big Body Coupe” Or ‘SharkNose” Zinnoberrot Red and Lotus interior M6 in amazing condition.

This 3 owner E24 has been meticulously maintained all its life, According to its clean Carfax this car started life in Colorado and migrated to sunny FL with its original owner until 2006. Vehicle was then bought by a doctor and then sold shortly after to its last owner who carefully and tastefully modded and maintained this M6.

Tons of receipts accompanied with the car, where the PO did a lot of preventative maintenance which made this car very drivable and reliable. Cooling system was completely gone through, new high performance clutch was installed, nearly $2500 spent on the AC, the problematic sls system was converted to a much more reliable spring and shock system and after market sway bars were added. Drilled and slotted rotors with stainless steel brake lines are nearly new. A catback Borla exhaust was added for a very nice distinct note. Genuine multi-piece bbs’s painted bbs motorsports gold give it the perfect contrast with the red ext… Slightly lowering this 6er gave it a very aggressive look… this is the baddest M6 on the market.

With the addition of just recently completing a 500 mile road trip without a single issue, this 6er can be easily daily driven. The exterior of this 6er is in very good condition as you can see from the pictures, although there are slight defects for a 27 year old car. Interior is also in very nice condition for its age, minor wear on the front seats, and a two hardly noticeable splits on the dash… everything else is in exceptional condition, along with all the electronics working throughout the interior.

A E24 M6 is the perfect balance of elegance and performance. With this being the last year of its production run only 319 of these cars were made, and are only bound to increase in price as they have in the last 2 years… very hard to come by examples that can still be driven an enjoyed.

Brakes, exhaust, and sway bars help back up the good looks and will help you express the scream of the S38 a bit better in the twisties. We’ve seen M5s of similar mileage and modification go for this asking price, so while high it may not be too far out of line. If I had the money and garage space to fit an M6 next to the M5, this is the one I’d want. It perfectly counters the E28’s black, 4-door sleeper status with a red, loud, gold-wheeled megacoupe. I’d even typically advocate for Shadowline on M6s to reduce the glare from the widespread chrome, but it fits perfectly here. All in all, a nice example on the high end of the price spectrum but still likely to appreciate over the next few years.

maybe its my monitor but that does not look like a lotus interior…more of a older beige interior???
none OEM shift knob and steering wheel…yeah I’m with the previous poster on this one…
the price is not crazy for the right car…I would want to see lots of maintenance records…and a solid PPI….
other than that nothing like the lines of a 6er

Not that it matters terribly, but that’s an ’88 not an ’87 – world bumpers and knee bolster. Of course now I see in his text that he mentions that it’s an ’88. Never mind…
