1988 BMW M6

The BMW M6 is one of those cars that seems to have benefitted from its contemporaries, namely the E30 M3 and E28 M5. As values rise on these two early M cars, the E24 is inching its way up as well. Of all three, the M6 is my favorite, as I have a soft spot for graceful looking coupes. With an aggressive nose and thin side pillars, this car has a look almost impossible to replicate to this day. The E24 is a car that is finally getting its fair shake after years of being almost unnoticed outside of Bimmer enthusiast circles. This M6 for sale in California is not a garage queen, but one that has seen regular use with a host of maintenance records dating back to day one. Best of all, part of the proceeds of the sale goes to charity.

This is one of those times where I have to decide if I am going to keep this car or sell it and sad to say I have to sell it. I just don’t have the room. My family and I own Alzheimer’s nursing facilities in Las Vegas, NV and one of our residents that has lived with us for many years owned this car since new. This BMW M6 is in great condition with only 144k 1 owner original miles. I ordered a Carfax as well if interested. It even has the original spare tire from new. This BMW has no rust and I believe this model BMW will go up in value every year. I have every receipt for everything ever done on this car since new as you can see in the photos. The owner was a fanatic about keeping records. This car has always been garaged and maintained meticulously. It recently had a complete Head Rebuild /valve job done and timing chain replaced 10k miles ago at an expense of almost $5,000. Compression on all cylinders was perfect. In my opinion this model BMW is one of the best looking cars in the world and one day will be recognized for its stunning lines. If you have been looking for a nice M6 this may be the one you have been looking for. Not to mention it is probably one of the best color combinations you can get. Blue over very light grey. This is a beautiful car that is extremely straight. When this car sells a portion of the proceeds with be donated to the Alzheimer’s association of America. The car is located in Beverly Hills, CA and I recommend that anyone that wants to bid have the car inspected or just come and take a look it. This car is being sold in as-is condition. I am willing to help with any and all shipping needs at buyers expense. Please contact me with any questions or offers since I have the car advertised locally and the auction can end at anytime. Thank you for looking at my ad.

The amount of records with this car is certainly impressive. We’ve seen other M cars of this vintage pass 200,000 miles with proper care so with 144k on the odometer, one shouldn’t be alarmed. It’s also a nice gesture that part of the sale will be benefitting the Alzheimer’s Association of America. As someone with a grandmother who suffered from the disease, I have supported this charity over the years. We saw a 1987 M6 with 180k miles sell for $17,600 last month. I’d suspect this car would probably match that figure, if not exceed it a bit.

I’ve been wanting an E24 M6 since I first saw one about 10 years back, in my 20s. I’m afraid by the time I have “collector car” level income, these will have appreciated beyond my means, and I will only be able to take solace in wanting one before everyone else did!

Wasn’t this same car for sale recently?

Seems like a nice one. I wonder who did the head and timing chain work. $5k seems a little low for labor, parts and machine shop costs.
