1988 Porsche 944

On Monday, our new GCFSB Guest Contributor, Pablo Deferrari of flüssig magazine featured a very detailed historical snapshot and analysis of a low mileage 1984 Porsche 944. Now here comes another low mileage, slightly newer 944 on offer in Tennessee. With all these mint 944s circulating around, it’s a prime opportunity to try out one of these well-balanced sports cars.

If your looking for a 944 but want something special, this 25 year old, low mile 944 might be the one for you!

Only 48,000 original documented miles on this mint 944. I am the 3rd owner and can say from the first 2 owners to my ownership this 944 has been babied and cared for as the classic she is. The Stone Grey paint still shines like show room condition only a few typical small minor rock chips on the front, the leather seats are near perfect, the carpet is the same rich black color (including the hatchback carpet) as it looked 25 years ago and looks like new. The engine runs so smooth it’s like a perfect running sewing machine with an attitude. When I had it inspected last year the inspector was quite amazed and told me the car was blowing ZERO’s… meaning it posted ZERO emissions, that is a testament to its mechanical shape! This car drives like an absolute dream, drives straight, shifts like new, handles corners like a sports car should, plenty of pick up for a base 944. The dash is in like new condition no cracks, all gauges work, all lights work in the dash. Everything in this car works perfectly.

This 944 comes with some very desirable features including: Stone Grey Metallic factory special order paint, Limited slip differential, Cruise control, leather seats, power locks, power windows, removable sunroof, original Blaupunkt “Reno” radio, power drivers seat, Portable Porsche emergency air compressor, spare tire, build stickers intact and a lot more. Both original owners had this car serviced at Porsche dealers it’s whole life, oil changes more frequent than needed… but I give the owners an A+ for keeping the maintenance up. New tires where put on at 37K in 2007 and they still are soft and have practically no wear and offer a smooth ride with plenty of tread left. All 50k maintenance already done including all fluids flushed, new timing belt, clutch inspection (nice and firm still), gear box fluid drained and replaced with Swepco… everything is in top notch condition. This car has absolutely leaked nothing in the 10 months I have owned it!

I have all the providential paper work that comes with the car including the original window sticker, built sheet stickers (still affixed to the trunk), original sales records, all the maintenance receipts, original books including the Blaupunkt radio warranty card and manual, all spare keys including the valet key and key code. Please ask if you have any questions or want to come see this 944 for yourself.

If your looking for a super clean extremely low mile original non molested 944….you just don’t find them like this anymore! Looking for a good home, deserved to be in a private collection!

*I also added two pictures of this 944 before I bought it less that a year ago with Porsche Speed Line wheels on it with Low profiles. Looks awesome! The Speed line wheels did not come with the car and the original wheels where put back on it. I included these so you can see how new wheels can make a huge difference in stance with the 944’s.

Please ask if you have any questions.

Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer at the buyers expense, if you would like more pictures please text me at 615.975.1820 (John)

There is no warranty offered or implied.

Generally I like my Porsches in white, but for some reason this example is speaking to me over the car that Pablo featured earlier in the week. True, there are some more complex bits that may be pricier to fix over time, but having had the desire to get into a Porsche for years, I’m considering a car like this would be a good place to start. For a basic 944, this one is priced higher than average, but considering the interest that is suddenly being heaped upon these cars, I wouldn’t be surprised to see values up around this level in the near future.

The 944 is a delightful car – I just got back from driving my wife’s S2 a little while ago and remembered, yet again, why this car ignited my love for Porsche. A clean well kept and low mileage one would be an auto-buy for me if I were looking for a nice well balanced sports car. Still, I think this one is priced about 5 years too early. GCFSB has presented a number of really nice 944s that come in at a much more reasonable price than this one is at – another way to look at this is that this 944 is priced about equal to an early 996 with not that many more miles on the clock.

I agree with Ken. You can get a good 968 for that price, with another 90hp and better handling. I like the 944s as much as the next guy, but, it’s overpriced.

I do hope he gets it though, I’d like to see my 968’s value on the rise!
