The last 325is I posted was a lightly modified example that some of our intrepid readers investigated further and found a few inconsistencies, namely a rebuilt engine and a chassis with over 200k miles – a bit different than the 123k claimed.
Today’s 325is seems like it has a lot less to hide, with 232k original miles and no visible or claimed modifications other than a full Bilstein suspension setup bringing it a little closer to the road. Apparently it’s been mostly stored for the last two years after a major servicing. Sounds like an owner who thought they could make a little investment in a clean E30 and get a nice return after a couple of years. With great originality and outstanding condition for the mileage, it’s not a bad bet.

The deceptive red 325is accepted an offer somewhere below the $7,800 asking price, and a year ago we saw a very similar high-mileage 325is go for $5k. The reserve auction for this one started at $5k and isn’t seeing much bidding yet, though I anticipate that changing as the end date nears. Even with the mileage, there just aren’t that many clean E30s left out there. Can it break $6-7k, or is the seller going to have to reevaluate their reserve?

A nice example but It’s pretty easy to polish the exterior and throw a little leather conditioner on these cars for make them look great in pictures (and be sure to check the seller’s business name!). if you look closely, there is still plenty of storage fodder on this one. Water stains on headliner (leaking sunroof), dirt in the console crevasses and a dash cap (not mentioned but likely a cracked dash). When the seat piping starts to ripple like bacon, it’s typically due to sun exposure. And what about the rear-end accident in the CarFax? If you’r considering this as an investment, it might be a good idea to check the VIN numbers on the panels. Also, this car spent half it’s life in New York and Pennsylvania so a few shots of the underside are sure in order. Just be sure you know exactly what you’re bidding on!
Ugh. That steering wheel is hideous compared with an Mtech I or II
