Another great alternative to the E30 market remains the stellar Porsche 944S2. With nearly identical performance numbers to the E30 M3, for the most part these hidden gems remain considerably more affordable. They look great, have great boxflared fenders, are generally considered extremely well built, make you feel very special and are even reasonably practical as a daily driver. They’re also fairly rare – production numbers are below what the E30 M3 numbers are, with around a reported 3,600 imported to the U.S.. Also like the E30 M3, many fell by the wayside or were turned into track cars – but despite the similar trajectory of their history, the S2 remains a solid performance bargain. I find this car fairly tempting; first, I can drive to the dealership to check it out. It’s priced below a majority of the S2 market, and even below clean examples of the regular 944. While some would be put off by the all-blue setup, I think it’s sort of neat; I owned an Audi 4000 with similar blue interior, and it brings back memories of that for me. Overall condition appears to be very good; the Boxster alloys don’t even look too out of place, but I’d probably opt for some of the Turbo S forged alloys in their place. Otherwise, there isn’t much to not like here outside of the complete lack of information about the car – something that could be sorted by a quick drive to the dealer…

brilliant car!..Cobalt & Minerva are my 2 favorite P-Car blue colors…
just not with a blue interior as well…LOL
great great cars….126k on the clock ain’t bad at all provided that this car has been cared for…cars like this however at dealers scare the crap out of me….would be feel more comfortable if it was enthusiast owned
I reckon someone reading this blog headed on over to the dealer, took a look, and bought it. If I still lived in MA, I would have headed over too. Nice looking car.
If it was a reader of the blog, it’d be nice to hear an after-purchase report once they’re a few weeks in….
Unfortunately, the 944 S2 & Turbo have gone nowhere, for way too long. Even in this appreciating market, they are still stuck at the same price level they were at, 17 years ago.
